Abstract

An airbag device that can limit outflow of gas from a vent hole and can release the limitation depending on use conditions of a seat and a seatbelt device, collision prediction, accident conditions, etc. An airbag (10) has a slit-like vent hole (40). A first tether (50) is continuous to one edge (13) of the vent hole (40) and a second tether (60) is continuous to the other edge (14). The other end side of the first tether (50) is disconnectably connected to a retainer (20) by a connection device (70). The other end side of the second tether (60) is connected to a base end side-surface (11) of the airbag (10). When the airbag is inflated, the vent hole (40) is pulled inward of the airbag (10) by the first and second tethers (50, 60), and this closes the vent hole (40). When the connection by the connection device (70) is released, the one edge (13) of the vent hole (40) swells outward from the airbag (10) to open the vent hole (40).
