Abstract

Discharge efficiency of a plasma display device is made improved. The plasma display device is provided with a plasma display panel and a driving part for driving the plasma display panel. The plasma display panel has three electrodes of a sustaining electrode, a scanning electrode and an address electrode in a first substrate. The driving part alternately applies high level voltage and low level voltage to the sustaining electrode and the scanning electrode, and applies control voltage to the address electrode for repetitively generating sustaining discharge in a lighting cell in a sustaining period. Control voltage is higher than an average value of high level voltage and low level voltage and is lower than a voltage value at which erroneous discharge starts to occur between the sustaining electrode or the scanning electrode to which low voltage is applied and the address electrode in a non-lighting cell.
