Abstract

 バックライト出射光の非対称性に起因して発生する表示の不具合を低減し、表示面鉛直方向を中心として対称性の高い輝度が得られる液晶表示装置を提供する。  液晶パネルに向けて光を出射するバックライトと、液晶パネルとバックライトとの間に設けられたマイクロレンズアレイとを備えた液晶表示装置であり、バックライトは、マイクロレンズアレイに向けて、光の伝播方向の平均が液晶パネルの受光面に垂直な第1方向とは異なる第2方向である光を出射し、複数のマイクロレンズのそれぞれが、受光面に垂直な軸であってマイクロレンズの中心を通る軸に対して非対称の形状を有し、液晶パネルに向けて、光の伝播方向の平均が第2方向よりも第1方向に近い方向である光を出射する。
