Abstract

 非磁性基板上に、少なくとも1層の裏打ち層と少なくとも1層のシード層と少なくとも1層の下地層と少なくとも1層の垂直磁気記録膜を有する垂直磁気記録媒体において、前記シード層の少なくとも1層が共有結合性材料からなる磁気記録媒体。共有結合性材料としては、六方晶の結晶構造を有する窒化物を主成分として含むもの、特に、六方晶ウルツァイト型の結晶構造を有するAlNを主成分として含むものがこのましい。この磁気記録媒体は、高密度の情報の記録再生が可能であるという特性を有する。
