Description
Description
ELECTRONIC COMMERCE METHOD OF LOCAL AREA ADVERTISING BASED, AND SYSTEM THEREOF
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates, in general, to a local advertisement based e-commerce method and system, and, more particularly, to a local advertisement based e-commerce method and system that enables information about suppliers' special events, which are associated with products or services, or advertisements, to which respective discounts are applied, to be provided through local systems at respective locations at predetermined public sites, and that enables consumers to be provided with discount coupon information through user terminals and to perform commercial transactions, such as making scheduled purchases or purchases, with the result that the present invention allows for the efficient disposal of the excessive supply or overstock of products in each area.
[2] In particular, the present invention enables a local area-based advertisement, including discount coupon information, to be posted only in areas that are located around the location of a shop, which has requested the advertisement, and that consumers can reach within a specific period of time, with the result that the present invention provides the solution for the inconsistency between demand and supply for a product in a specific area at a specific point of time.
Background Art
[3] Typical offline shops hold discount events in order to efficiently dispose of excessive products and overstock. In most cases, a method of posting an advertisement, indicating a discount event, at a shop is used as a method of advertising a discount event.
[4] This method has a limited effect because consumers obtain information only from an advertisement that is posted at the shop which holds a discount event and because only limited consumers can view the advertisement on behalf of the shop that holds the discount event.
[5] A method of producing bills or placards to indicate a discount event and posting them at specific local sites may be considered a possible scheme for solving the above- described problems. Such an advertisement for a discount event is performed in an area for a predetermined period of time, but it is not suitable as an advertisement concerning the disposal of excessive products at a specific point of time in a specific area.
[6] For example, consider the case of a movie theater. If seats for a movie to be run for a
specific time period are left over, the movie theater wants to sell the remaining seats before the start of the running time of the movie. In this case, the movie theater wants to sell the unsold tickets for the seats even if they are sold at a specific discount. However, it is difficult to post an advertisement in advance as such because it is difficult to predict the number of tickets and also to dispose of the tickets due to the time limitation.
[7] As another example, consider the case of a confectionary. In the event where all confections produced in a day are intended to be sold within that day, there are problems in that it is difficult to perform an advertisement in advance because it is difficult to predict the number of excessive products, and thus it is difficult to set a discount rate and discern the target products, and also consumers who view the information are restricted when the typical method of posting an advertisement at a shop is used.
[8] Meanwhile, online advertisement enables an advertisement to be provided to a large number of general consumers over a wide area, but is limited to a direct advertising effect that is provided by local area-based advertisement.
[9] Accordingly, there is a demand for a system capable of performing local area-based target advertisement that enables frequent changes in the content of an advertisement such that the efficient disposal of excessive products at a specific point of time in each local area is possible, and that enables consumers, located around a shop, to reach the shop and purchase products within a specific time period.

Mode for the Invention
[39] Preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the attached drawings. First, it should be noted that, in the assignment of reference numerals, the same reference numerals are used throughout the different drawings to designate the same or similar components as far as possible. Furthermore, in the description of the present invention, if detailed descriptions of related well- known constructions or functions is determined to make the gist of the present invention unclear, the detailed descriptions will be omitted.
[40] Fig. 1 is a system configuration diagram showing a local advertisement based e- commerce system according to an embodiment of the present invention, Fig. 2 is a functional block diagram of a local system that is applied to the local advertisement based e-commerce system shown in Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a functional block diagram of a system server that is applied to the local advertisement based e-commerce system shown in Fig. 1, and Fig. 4 is a detailed configuration diagram showing the DB shown in Fig. 3.
[41] The local advertisement based e-commerce system according to the first embodiment of the present invention includes a plurality of local systems 110 and a system server 120, as shown in Fig. 1. The local systems 110 and the system server 120 are connected to each other through a network 13, and a user interface 11, which makes an access through an Internet/communication network 12, is connected to the system server 120. Here, the network 13 may be one of various types of communication networks, and includes a data network, such as a wireless network, the Internet or a dedicated line, and the Internet/communication network 12 includes the Internet and wired or wireless communication networks, and may be exemplified by the KT WiBro network.
[42] Here, the user interface 11 is terminal equipment that is used by an advertiser in a shop who makes a request for an advertisement, and may be one of a Personal Computer (PC), a notebook computer, a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), a navigator, and various types of Internet-accessible wired/wireless terminals. Here, the wireless terminals include a portable phone, a mobile phone, a camera phone, a cellular phone,
a TRS phone, a Personal Communication Service (PCS) phone, a Global System for Mobile (GSM) phone, a Wideband CDMA (W-CDMA) phone, a CDMA-2000 phone, a Mobile Broadband System (MBS) phone, a DMB phone, a video terminal, a satellite terminal, a WiBro terminal and the like, and the MBS phone refers to a mobile phone that will be used in the fourth generation system that is currently under discussion. Furthermore, a PC 14 used by an individual user may access the Internet/communication network 12. The PC 14 is given as an example in order to distinguish the individual user from the advertiser, is not limited to a personal computer, and may be configured like the terminal equipment of the user interface 11.
[43] Furthermore, a user terminal 130 for performing wireless short-range communication with the local systems 110 and receiving discount coupon information is provided. Here, the user terminal 130 is portable terminal equipment that a consumer uses to schedule the purchase of a product at a discount or purchase a product at a discount while viewing an advertising screen. The user terminal 130 is one of various types of Internet- accessible wireless terminals, and includes a portable phone, a mobile phone, a camera phone, a cellular phone, a TRS phone, a PCS phone, a GSM phone, a W- CDMA phone, a CDMA-2000 phone, an MBS phone, a DMB phone, a video terminal, a satellite terminal, a WiBro terminal, a mobile PC and a portable computer.
[44] The local systems 110 are installed at respective public sites, and display advertisements. The local systems 110 provide discount coupon information through displayed advertising screens.
[45] Here, the local systems 110 provide discount coupon information through advertising screens, and, when a request for discount coupon information is received from the user terminal 130 used by a user (consumer), provide discount coupon information to the user terminal 130 through any one of a barcode (which includes means for performing an identification indication function using combinations of two or more types of lines or gratings, such as one-dimensional barcode, two-dimensional barcode and color code), short-range wireless communication, a mobile communication network, a wireless communication network, Bluetooth, IrDA, a data network and a communication network (KT WiBro). Furthermore, after a purchase using discount coupon information has been scheduled using the user terminal 130, it is preferable that the payment be made at a shop or be made immediately.
[46] Furthermore, the user terminal 130 acquires an advertisement ID, displayed on the local systems 110, in the form of a scan or a code, and, if the scan or code includes URL information, the user terminal 130 may immediately access an e-commerce website.
[47] Such discount coupon information, as shown in Fig. 8, is provided to consumers through advertising screens displayed on the screen display units 114 of the local
systems 110. If the discount coupon information is provided in the form of a barcode, the consumer who uses the user terminal 130 may be provided with the discount coupon information in such a way that the consumer reads a barcode, displayed on the screen display unit 114, through the barcode reader installed at the user terminal 130.
[48] In this case, it is preferred that each of the local systems 110 count the number of times the barcode is read and notify the system server 120 of this number. The reason for this is to solve the inconsistency between the quantity of products to be supplied and the quantity to be purchased through management of the number of times the discount coupon information is provided. That is, the reason for this is to eliminate complaints that may occur between consumers and a supplier in the case in which the quantity of products is too small when the consumers download the discount coupon information and request purchases.
[49] Furthermore, the discount coupon information may be provided through short-range wireless communication. This allows stored discount coupon information to be provided between the user terminal 130 and a relevant local system 110 through wireless communication over a short range. In this case, when the local system 130 provides the discount coupon information to the user terminal 130 used by the consumer, the local system 110 also provides a unique authentication number to the user terminal 130.
[50] Accordingly, the consumer may visit a shop and purchase a specific product at a discount by presenting the unique authentication number together with the discount coupon information. That is, such unique authentication numbers corresponding to the quantity of products to be provided in a shop are provided to consumers, thereby solving the inconsistency between the quantity of products to be supplied and the quantity of products to be purchased, and enable legitimate consumers, who can use discount coupons, to be identified.
[51] When a consumer requests a discount coupon, discount coupon information may also be provided through a mobile communication network (or through a direct connection with the system server 120, or through the system server 120). This case is the case in which the consumer requests discount coupon information from the local system 110 through the user terminal 130. In this case, the local system 110 provides notification of the terminal information (a telephone number or the like) of the user terminal 130, which requested the discount coupon information, to the system server 120, and the system server 120 provides the discount coupon information to the user terminal 130 over the communication network 12, which is provided by a mobile communication service provider. At this time, the system server 120 may also provide a unique authentication number capable of proving that the consumer is a consumer who can take a discount in a shop, in addition to the discount coupon information.
[52] Furthermore, a consumer may directly request discount coupon information from the system server 120. SMS or MMS may be taken as an example of the form in which discount coupon information may be provided to the user terminal 130, but there is no special limitation on the form.
[53] In the above description, various examples of the provision of discount coupon information have been given. Although the method of providing a unique authentication number along with discount coupon information has been described as being preferable as a method for solving the inconsistency between demand and supply, there is no limitation on the method. It may be arranged so that consumers who received discount coupon information can purchase products at discounts in the sequence of arrival at a shop.
[54] Fig. 2 is a functional block diagram of a local system that is applied to the local advertisement based e-commerce system according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
[55] It is preferable that the local system 110, as shown in Fig. 2, include at least one of a communication interface unit 111, a storage unit 112, a media output device unit 113, a screen display unit 114, an information provision unit 115, a wireless communication unit 116, a GPS module 117, and a control unit 118.
[56] The communication interface unit 111 performs interface matching and data communication with the system server 120, and the storage unit 112 stores advertising information to be exposed to consumers. In this case, the storage unit 112 may store unique authentication numbers, in addition to the advertising information.
[57] The media output device unit 113 outputs an advertisement, stored in the storage unit
112, in response to an advertising image output control signal from the control unit 118, and the screen display unit 114 displays the video and sound of an advertisement provided by the media output device unit 113.
[58] In this case, the screen display unit 114 may be formed of one of various types of displays, such as a screen, a transparent or translucent screen, a PDP, an LCD, an LED, a CRT, an organic EL, a TFT-LCD and a next-generation paper display (electronic paper). When the screen display unit 114 is formed of a screen, the media output device unit 113 may have the construction of a beam projector. That is, it should be appreciated that the screen display unit 114 includes both a method of acquiring and reflecting video information through projection and a method of acquiring and displaying the video information of digital signals.
[59] The information provision unit 115 provides discount coupon information along with a unique authentication number in response to the request for the discount coupon information from the user terminal 130, the wireless communication unit 116 performs wireless short-range communication with the user terminal 130, the GPS module 117
provides the global standard time function of a GPS, and the control unit 118 manages advertising information received through the communication interface unit 111 and generally controls the respective component modules.
[60] The system server 120 implements time synchronization in conjunction with a plurality of local systems 110, which makes access over the network 13, based on the global standard time of a GPS, and provides advertising information to the local systems 110.
[61] Here, time synchronization is required to control the operational time settings of the local systems 110 that are distributed in various pubic areas. Time synchronization may be implemented in such a way that the system server 120 periodically sends information about the global standard time of a GPS to the local systems 110 or GPS modules 117 may be installed in the respective local systems 110. In this case, various methods, such as a method of operating a GPS in the system server 120 and sending time information to the plurality of local systems 110 over the network 13, and a method of sending information about the standard time of the system server 120 to the plurality of local systems 110, may be applied to the synchronization of time using the system server 120.
[62] Furthermore, the system server 120, in response to a request for an advertisement from the user interface 11 used by an advertiser, sets one or more pieces of local information, in which ranges are considered, based on the location information of the shop which has requested the advertisement, as shown in Fig. 9. Furthermore, the same procedure may be applied to the case in which an individual user requests a personal advertisement using the PC 14.
[63] Furthermore, the system server 120 designates one or more local systems 110, through which the advertisement is to be exposed, for each of the pieces of local information, in which case the system server 120 may apply different numbers of exposures of the advertisement through the local systems 110 to the respective pieces of local information.
[64] Furthermore, the advertisement that is provided to the local systems 110 by the system server 120 may be one or more images stored ahead of time by the individual or the advertiser or one or more images of a current situation captured and provided by the individual or the advertiser using a camera. Here, the images may be provided through not only a camera (a digital camera) but also different types of portable terminals having a camera function.
[65] It is preferable that the system server 120, as shown in Fig. 3, include any one or more of a communication interface unit 121, a found information provision unit 122, a DB 123, a local information creation unit 124, a billing processing unit 125 and a control unit 126.
[66] The communication interface unit 121 performs interface matching and data communication with the plurality of local systems 110, and the found information provision unit 122 searches the DB 123 based on the location information of a shop in response to an advertisement request input through the interface 11 used by an advertiser, and provides local information, in which ranges are considered, and the location information of the local systems 110, included in respective areas, to the user interface 11.
[67] The DB 123 stores various types of data related to advertisements. It is preferable that the DB 123, as shown in Fig. 4, include any one or more of a local map information DB 123-1 for storing map information, a member information DB 123-2 for storing individuals' or advertisers' personal information, an advertising information DB 123-3 for storing individuals' or advertisers' advertising images, a coupon information DB 123-4 for individuals' or advertisers' discount information, a billing information DB 123-5 for storing cost information based on the occupation and use of the local systems, a local system location information DB 123-6 for storing the values of the location information of the respective local systems, a local system-based schedule information DB 123-7 for storing daily and hourly schedule state information for the respective local systems, a content DB 123-8 for storing various types of image content, besides advertising images, a local system-based characteristic information DB 123-9 for storing characteristic information, such as a main trading area and the types of shops around the local systems and the screen sizes of the local systems, and a shop characteristic information DB 123-10 for storing shop information, such as the products on sale in each shop, and the size and type of each shop.
[68] The local information creation unit 124 creates local information for the exposure of an advertisement by combining areas, which are set based on the provision of user- selected information, with the values (location IDs) of the unique location information of found local systems; the billing processing unit 125 performs billing based on occupation of the local systems 110; and the control unit 126 manages the plurality of local systems 110 using local machine IDs and generally operates and manages the respective component modules.
[69] Furthermore, the user-selected information includes any one or more of the selection of an area, local systems included in the area, the number of exposures of an advertisement in each of the local systems, and the type of provision of discount coupons.
[70] The first invention allows for the efficient disposal of excessive supply and overstock in each local area and the solution of the inconsistency between demand and supply at a specific point of time in each local area through the efficient disposal thereof.
[71] Furthermore, on behalf of an advertiser, the direct advertising effect of local advertisement in which the advertiser directly appeals to local consumers at low cost can
be provided.
[72] Fig. 5 is a flowchart showing a local advertisement based e-commerce method according to a second embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. 6 is a flowchart showing the detailed process of the step of providing local information in the e- commerce method shown in Fig. 5.
[73] The local advertisement based e-commerce method according to the second embodiment of the present invention will be described using the case in which an advertiser's shop is Megabox Coex as an example for the understanding and ease of the description of the present invention.
[74] The system server 120 receives a request for an advertisement from the user interface
11 that is being used by the advertiser or manager of Megabox at step SI lO.
[75] Here, the request for an advertisement is made when there are vacant seats for which seats are not sold or are not scheduled to be sold in the situation in which the running time of a specific movie is to start soon. The manager of the Megabox requests an advertisement, to which a specific discount rate is applied, from the system server 120 in order to sell tickets for the remaining seats before the start of the running time of the movie.
[76] The system server 120 provides local information about the exposure of the advertisement based on the location information of the shop (Megabox) of the advertiser who has requested the advertisement at step S 120.
[77] In this case, at the step S 120 of providing local information, the system server 120 determines the location of the shop using event information at the time of the request for the advertisement at step S121, as shown in Fig. 6. Here, the event information includes one or more of the location of the shop of a supplier, identification information ID, the type of product, the number of products, a price, a discount rate, a discount period, and advertising images.
[78] The system server 120 searches for the locations of the local systems 110 installed at respective public sites around the shop at step S 122.
[79] Thereafter, the system server 120 sets one or more areas around the location of the shop in consideration of ranges at step S 123.
[80] Here, the reason why the areas are set around the location of the shop in consideration of a range is to selectively provide location-based advertisements to consumers who are located within a range within which the consumers can download discount coupons and view movies through the scheduled purchase or purchase of movie tickets.
[81] That is, in the case in which consumers are not located within a distance over which they can arrive before the start of the running time of the movie, it is difficult to arrive by the time when the consumers can view a movie, even if the consumers view an ad-
vertisement and download discount coupons, with the result that it is difficult to make purchases and there is no net advertising effect.
[82] The system server 120 creates local information for the exposure of the advertisement by combining the set areas with the values of the found location information of the local systems 110 at step S 124. Here, the values of the location information may be expressed in the form of location IDs, coordinate values or the like.
[83] Here, the local information, as shown in Fig. 9, is classified into information about a core area that is located within a short range around the location of a shop (for example, an area around Coex) and information about a non-core area that is set outside the core area (for example, an area outside the Coex area at which consumers can arrive before the start of the running time of a movie). It is preferable to perform the setting so that the number of exposures of an advertisement per hour through local systems 110 that are located in the core area is larger than that through local systems 110 that are located in the non-core area.
[84] This improves a purchasing rate by providing most notification to consumers located in the immediately adjacent area, through frequent advertisement because there is a strong possibility that consumers located in the core area can arrive before the start of the running time of a movie.
[85] Furthermore, the system server 120 provides the created local information to the advertiser or manager of Megabox who uses the user interface 11, and receives user- selected information related to the local information from the advertiser or manager at step S 130.
[86] Here, the user-selected information includes one or more of the setting of one or more areas, local systems included in the areas, the number of exposures for each of the local systems, and the type of provision of discount coupons.
[87] Thereafter, the system server 120 provides advertising information to be exposed to one or more local systems 110, which are designated through the user-selected information, at step S 140.
[88] Here, the advertisement may be one or more images that were previously registered in the system server 120 by the advertiser (including an individual), or one or more real-time images of the current situations of a shop that are captured using the advertiser's own camera. Furthermore, the images may be provided through a different type of portable terminal, as well as a camera (a digital camera).
[89] Thereafter, the local systems 110, which belong to the local systems 110 at respective public sites and have received the advertising information, display the content of the advertisement in one or more predetermined time periods at step S 150.
[90] In this case, the local systems 110 provide discount coupon information in the content of the advertisement, and the discount coupon information is provided to the
user terminal 130 through one of barcode, short range wireless communication, a mobile communication network, a wireless communication network (KT WiBro), Bluetooth, IrDA, and a data network at step S 160.
[91] Meanwhile, a consumer who has been provided with the discount coupon information provided by a local system 110, that is, the consumer of the user terminal 130, downloads discount coupon information, and schedules the purchase of a movie ticket to which a discount is applied. In this case, the consumer may purchase the movie ticket through immediate payment via the user terminal 130 that is being used by the consumer.
[92] Alternatively, the consumer may purchase the movie ticket by scheduling the purchase of the movie ticket, directly visiting Megabox, presenting the downloaded discount coupon, and making payment.
[93] Meanwhile, the system server 120 charges the advertiser based on the occupation and use of the local systems 110 at step S 170.
[94] In this case, it is preferable to perform the billing based on the number of exposures of the advertisement displayed on the local systems 110. If necessary, different billing systems may be applied to the local systems 110 in the core area or the local systems 110 in the non-core areas.
[95] Alternatively, in the case in which the advertiser makes an agreement for the exposure of an advertisement in advance, different advertisement exposure costs may be calculated for respective day and time intervals and applied to the respective day and time intervals. Meanwhile, the system server 120 may measure the number of cases in which the exposure of an advertisement leads to actual purchases, puts such data into a DB, and applies the data of the DB to the calculation of the costs of the exposure of the advertisement.
[96] Meanwhile, it is possible to perform implementation so that the information of a relevant shop may be searched for when a consumer requests a discount coupon first.
[97] The above-described second invention provides the advantages of solving the inconsistency between demand and supply at a specific point of time for each local area and efficiently disposing of excessive supply and overstock in each local area.
[98] Furthermore, on behalf of consumers, there is an advantage of being able to purchase products at low cost using discount coupon information provided through local area- based advertisement, and, on behalf of a system operation service provider, there is provided the advantage of receiving more orders for advertisements through the provision of local area-based target advertisements.
[99] Fig. 7 is a flowchart showing a local advertisement based e-commerce method according to a third embodiment of the present invention.
[100] The local advertisement based e-commerce method according to the third
embodiment of the present invention will be described using a confectionary, located in a specific area, as an example.
[101] The system server 120 receives a request for an advertisement from the user interface 11 that is being used by the manager of the confectionary at step S210.
[102] The system server 120 automatically sets advertisement exposure information in consideration of ranges based on the location information of the confectionary, which has requested the advertisement, at step S220.
[103] Here, the advertisement exposure information includes one or more of one or more areas, local systems 110 included in the areas, the number of exposures for each of the local systems 110, and discount coupon information.
[104] Furthermore, the areas include one or more pieces of local information around the location of the confectionary in consideration of ranges. The local information, as shown in Fig. 9, is classified into information about a core area that is located within a short range around the location of the confectionary and information about one or more non-core areas that are set outside the core area. It is preferable to perform configuration so that the number of exposures of an advertisement in a core area can be larger than that in the non-core areas.
[105] This is effective in the case in which the number of products that will be sold at a discount at a confectionary is small and the products are intended to be sold in a predetermined period. That is, this is intended to provide the local area-based selective advertisement only to consumers that are located within a distance of 30 minutes around the location of the confectionary in the case in which the number of cakes that are desired to be sold at a discount is about 50 and the cakes are desired to be sold within a time period of 30 minutes.
[106] Thereafter, the system server 120 confirms the approval of the automatically set advertisement exposure information by the requester at step S230, and provides advertising information to one or more local systems 110 designated in the advertisement exposure information at step S240.
[107] The local systems 110 display the content of the advertisement, including discount coupon information, at a set time at step S250, and provide the discount coupon information to the user terminal 130 that is used by the consumer at step S260.
[108] Here, the discount coupon information is provided to the user terminal 130 through any one of barcode, short range wireless communication, a mobile communication network, a wireless communication network, Bluetooth, IrDAQ, a data network and KT WiB ro. It is preferable to make payment at a shop or immediate payment after making purchase using the discount coupon information using the user terminal 130.
[109] Meanwhile, the system server 120 performs billing based on the occupation and use of the local systems 110 at step S270. In this case, it is preferable to perform the billing
