Abstract

Disclosed is a glass microparticle assembly which has a lower melting point compared to a conventional glass frit in spite of having substantially the same composition as that of the conventional glass frit. Specifically disclosed is a glass microparticle assembly which comprises a multi-component glass, has an average particle diameter of 200 nm or smaller, and has a shrink start temperature of 1500°C or lower. Preferably, the glass microparticle has an average particle diameter of 100 nm or smaller, and has an almost spherical shape. The glass microparticle can be produced by concentrating and irradiating the surface of a sample (2) of aglass bulk with a CO2 laser beam (5).
