Abstract

A hand-held carpet-cutting apparatus which is capable of performing such tasks as separating carpet pile so as to discriminate a path for cutting carpet, as well as actually cutting carpet. The apparatus is made up of an L-shaped body, having a barrel portion integral with a more narrow handle portion, a blade mount adapted for receiving a cutting blade in a position in opposition to, but in line with, the handle portion, a protruding rounded nose element positioned in the barrel portion distally from the blade recess, and a pile row finder formed as a resilient metal finger. The apparatus is ergonomically shaped such that the user's hand is held in a comfortable position for tireless work and is capable of exerting considerable leverage on the tool and especially its cutting blade.
