Abstract

Provided is a liquid crystal display device comprising pixels having first and second auxiliary pixel electrodes, first auxiliary capacity wiring lines for forming auxiliary capacities together with the first auxiliary pixel electrodes, and second auxiliary capacity wiring lines for forming auxiliary capacities together with the second auxiliary pixel electrodes. The first and second auxiliary capacity wiring lines are controlled to have their individual polarities periodically inverted. The first polarity inversions of the first auxiliary capacity wiring lines and the first polarity inversions of the second auxiliary capacity wiring lines after the scanning ends of the scanning line signal lines are inverted from each other. For the time period (or the black signal insertion period), for which both the first and second auxiliary capacity wiring lines are not polarity-inverted, till the next scan, the potentials corresponding to the black display are written several times in the first and second auxiliary pixel electrodes from the data signal lines. Thus, in case the black insertion is performed in the pixel-split type liquid crystal display device for controlling the potentials of the auxiliary capacity wiring lines, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of transverse streaks.
