Abstract

 緩やかに下降する傾斜波形電圧を走査電極(SCi)に印加して放電セルを初期化する初期化期間と放電させる放電セルに選択的に書込みを行う書込み期間とこの書込み期間で選択された放電セルで輝度重みに応じた回数の維持放電を発生させる維持期間とを有するサブフィールド(SF)を1フィールド期間内に複数設けてプラズマディスプレイパネルを駆動する際に、前記輝度重みの大きいSF(第7SF~第10SF)からなる第2のサブフィールド群において、あるSFにおいて前記維持放電を発生させない場合、そのSFに続くSFにおいても前記維持放電を発生させないように前記書込みを制御するとともに、前記第2のサブフィールド群に含まれるSF(第7SF~第10SF)における前記傾斜波形電圧の最低電圧(Vi4H)と、前記第2のサブフィールド群に含まれないSF(第1SF~第6SF)における傾斜波形電圧の最低電圧(Vi4L)とを異なる値にする。
