Abstract

一定の薄板状の情報記録媒体基板用素材を量産するための円盤状ガラス素材の製造方法を提供すること、前記方法で製造した素材から情報記録媒体用基板ならびに情報記録媒体を製造する方法を提供する。熔融ガラスから、複数の円盤状ガラス素材を逐次に成形することを含む円盤状ガラス素材の製造方法。前記円盤状ガラス素材に成形される熔融ガラスに含まれる赤外線吸収性イオンの濃度の経時的な変動を抑制して、前記複数の円盤状のガラス素材の板厚の変動が、1000枚のガラス素材について、基準値に対して±15%の範囲内になるようにする方法。0.1~100ppmの赤外線吸収性イオンを含むガラスからなる複数の円盤状ガラス素材を成形する際に、前記円盤状ガラス素材に成形される熔融ガラスに含まれる赤外線吸収性イオンの濃度の経時的な変動を抑制して、前記複数の板状のガラス素材の板厚の変動を抑制する方法。
