Definitions

  • This invention relates to vehicles which are used to transport foods or other goods needing to be kept at cooler temperatures.
  • the invention has a specific application to road transport where the width of a vehicle without special permissions, is constrained to a specific width.
  • Commercial insulated and refrigerated road transport is an extremely competitive business and there is an ongoing challenge to achieve more storage volume within a refrigerated or an insulated area while maintaining as high as possible, insulation whilst legally being constrained to a maximum width determined by relevant road legislation.
  • a traditional construction that currently exists uses a fibre reinforced plastic sheet as an outer most surface along each of sidewalls of a refrigerated transport unit.
  • fibre reinforced plastic resin provides, by reason of its gel coat, an external surface that is both visually acceptable and is able to be kept ⁇ relatively clean easily, but at the same time, also has implicitly some insulation value.

  • An object of this invention therefore is to provide an improvement in respect of the above problem.

  • An advantage of the arrangement described is that the materials that are conventionally used and have been found to be acceptable can continue to be used and yet, there is this improved insulation at the least, or at least similar insulation levels, but with an improved internal width capacity that provides significant improvement in competitive advantage in relation to loading and unloading of refrigerated vehicles or insulated vehicles.
