Abstract

An adsorbent which comprises an amorphous aluminum silicate and has excellent adsorption performance in a high-humidity range. The amorphous aluminum silicate is synthesized by mixing solutions in such a proportion as to result in an Si/Al ratio of 1.0-3.0, which is higher than in the synthesis of imogolite or amorphous imogolite, and conducting desalting and heating. The amorphous silicate obtained has an adsorption amount of 90 wt.% or larger at a relative humidity of 95% or higher.
