Abstract

The invention provides a process which comprises restricting the timing of addition of a specific CSM and thereby can bring about fluorine-containing elastomers excellent in compression set, heat resistance, stress relaxation, and other physical properties; fluorine-containing elastomers produced by the process; and molded articles. The invention relates to a process for the production of fluorine-containing elastomers by copolymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated compound component containing at least one fluoroolefin with a compound represented by the general formula (1): CY12=CY2Rf1X1 (wherein Y1 and Y2 are each fluoro, hydrogen, or -CH3; Rf1 is a straight-chain or branched fluorine-containing alkylene which may have an etheric oxygen atom and in which part or all of the hydrogen atoms are replaced by fluorine atoms; and X1 is iodo or bromo), characterized in that the addition of the compound represented by the general formula (1) is initiated at the point of time when 0 to 10wt% of the whole amount of the ethylenically unsaturated compound component to be added to the polymerization system after the addition of a polymerization initiator has been added.
