Abstract
Materials for rotomolding consisting of a) 100 parts of basic thermoplastic polymer (PE, PP, PA); b) up to 30 parts of corundum of granularity 100 to 300 µm; c) further standard additives Products made from that material by rotomolding technology, when the additional material distributed in the basic one either almost regularly, or it is concentrated close to the operation (function) surface of the product.
Description
CORPLASTEN materials - thermoplastic polymers for rotomolding filled with powdery corundum
Basic material - thermopolymer (PE, PP, PA) for rotomolding
Additive material - powdery corundum
Additive material is distributed in the basic one purposefully to substantially improve the abrasion resistance of the final product made from this material by rotomolding technology.
We receive a material, which is can be processed to the required shape by the original rotomolding technology, and whose basic mechanical properties are kept (elasticity, shape memory, resistance against chemicals, etc.) and where the additive material brought multiple increase of wear resistance.
3.1.
CORPLASTEN materials- thermoplastic polymers for rotomolding filled with powdery corundum.
3.2.
Rotomolding of thermoplastic materials
3.3.
Currently are thermoplastic polymers filled just by pigments, which change their color, and by other powder fillers, e.g. soot, which change electric properties of the basic material - electric conductivity, surface resistance. These fillers are added in volume of few weight per-cents, not to affect substantially negative the mechanic properties of the basic material - thermoplast. When are the products made from these standard materials subject to long-term abrasive wear of the flowing material, they are quickly worn up to destruction.
3.4.
CORPLASTEN materials are thermoplastic polymers refined with a dose of additional inorganic material - powdery corundum - in ratio according to the estimated use of the final product, with that this additive material is purposefully distributed in the basic material to increase substantially the wear resistance of the final material with that the other mechanical properties are either kept or are still sufficient for the given application.
CORPLASTEN materials should be so used mainly for applications where other materials - of lower durability or substantially more expensive ones - have been used.
3.6.
In quarries and sand and gravel mines (for instance) there are used chutes consisting of steel sheet or polypropylene cone parts hung on ropes or chains, through whose the material flows to the destined place. Single parts of that chute are either heavy and/or not durable enough and it is necessary to change them in few months. This requires to stop the line and causes economical losses. When the chute parts are made from CORPLASTEN material, the set is substantially lighter compared to steel one and much more durable compared to both steel and polypropylene. Tested sample did not show substantial wear after more than 25.000 tons of sand passed through it.
3.7.
Shaped parts in direct contact with abrasive material, with requirements for easy handling or exchange, low weight, long service live, low price, cleanliness (contact with drink water or food).
4.
Mixture of thermoplastic polymer (PE, PP, PA) - as basic material, and mineral filler - powdery corundum (Al2O3) of particles size 100 - 300 Dm up to 30% of weight of the basic material.
Production method - rotomolding.
Additive material is distributed in the basic material either almost uniformly, or it is concentrated close to the work (function) surface of the final product.
Potential use of the products made from CORPLASTEN materials - they can replace those made from standard materials - steel, cast iron, steel sheets - where it will bring substantial economic effect - long durability and easy handling, ecological effect - lower environmental load at material and product arise, and ergonomic effect - e.g. reduction of noise in chute applications.
