Abstract

A method and system of routing and addressing for short message are provided. After it receives the short message, which is sent from Short Message Service Center (SMSC) to the unregistered identity of IP Multimedia subsystem (IMS) domain, the short message gateway node queries the Home Location Register Unit to get the address of IP Short Message Gateway (IP-SM-GW) related to the unregistered identity. The short message gateway node forwards the said short message to the said IP-SM-GW. After it receives said short message, the said IP-SM-GW performs the addressing to the Application Server (AS) hosting said unregistered identity in the IMS domain, and forwards the said short message to the said AS. The said method and system can efficiently resolve the problem of routing and addressing the short message to the Application Server in the IMS domain. The said method and system can realize the interaction procedure between user and Application Server with short message, and the short message communication procedure between the user in CS domain and the unregistered identity in IMS domain.
