Abstract

A column driver circuit is for providing pixel drive signals to the columns of pixels of an active-matrix display device. The column driver circuit comprises at least one level-generation circuit (71,72,74) for generating an output voltage which ramps, wherein a desired voltage dependent on the pixel drive signal during a pixel addressing period is obtained from the ramp. In one example, the are coupled to an overdrive source (VOd) during the period (tgrey) when the output voltage of the level-generation circuit is ramped. In another example, the ramp has a current surge in a first portion (ti) of the pixel addressing period and a current dip (98) in a second portion (t2) of the pixel addressing period. In another example, a charging resistor is provided in to give a voltage step in the ramp during the pixel addressing period.
