Abstract

The invention relates to a vehicle seat provided with an adjustable headrest (20) and comprising at least one rail (22) and a backrest (26) in which a guide (24) for the rail (22) is formed. An elastic element (30) which applies an elastic prestress to the headrest (20) in such a way that it is drawn to the backrest (26) is disposed between the backrest (26) and the rail (22). An actuating lever (54) is movably mounted on the backrest (26) and provided with a handle (55). The invention also provides an adjusting part (40) whose movement is coupled with the rail (22) movement. Said adjusting part (40) is associated with blocking means (50, 51) whose movement is coupled with the actuating lever (54) movement and which is driven thereby from a normally blocking position to a released position. The blocking device holds the adjusting part (40) in the blocking position thereof, thereby maintaining the headrest (20) in the position of use against the force of the elastic element (30). On a forward folding movement of the backrest (26) the headrest is further retracted in order to avoid a collision of the headrest with parts of the interior. On returning the backrest to the starting position the headrest adopts the starting position thereof as well by means of a memory device.
