Abstract

Prior art cloths used for wet and moist cleaning are made of non-woven, shrinking polyvinyl alcohol fibres vortexed by a jet of water, said fibres being secured by a polyvinyl alcohol binding agent. The inventive cloth is made of pure polyvinyl alcohol fibres which do not shrink when used in normal conditions, said fibres being vortexed together in order to increase resistance and being additionally soaked with a binding agent containing a polyhydroxyl group. Softeners are chemically joined thereto and can no longer be separated after foaming and subsequent polycondensation.

Description

Vollsynthetisches Wischtuch, Verfahren und Anlage zur Herstellung des WischtuchesFully synthetic wipe, process and plant for the manufacture of the wipe

Wipes are used to clean the surface of objects and are very advantageous for absorbing liquids of all kinds. To cope with this, they must have a high abrasion resistance and a high absorption capacity of liquids.

Because of the impurities to be absorbed, it is advantageous if the cloth has a fully synthetic composition. In this connection, EP-B-0 081 218 discloses a wipe which consists of interwoven, hot-water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol fibers which shrink under the influence of temperature and which are impregnated with a resin made of polyvinyl alcohol for further connection. The fibers shrink during impregnation. Therefore, according to the EP, the fleece is stretched during impregnation and also during drying. Furthermore, the drying temperature during the drying process must be kept below the softening temperature of the fiber. Such a cloth has a high abrasion resistance, but the handle is also rubber-like due to the shrunk fibers. Problems also arise if the treated wipes of this type are stored for a long period of time. The plasticized polyvinyl acetal sweats out, components migrate across the cross-section of the fleece.

Furthermore, from DE-A-199 17 275 a wipe is known as a needled sandwich fleece, for which purpose it consists of several layers of microfibers of different polymers and additionally of secondary staple fibers that are absorbent. These microfibers have a good cleaning effect, but are not liquid receptive. Therefore, the secondary fibers were added, which can also be made from polyvinyl alcohol. However, these wipes suffer from less fluid absorption.

The invention has for its object to develop a fully synthetic wipe that has the maximum possible liquid absorption capacity, a good cleaning effect and a cloth-like handle. It should also be able to be exposed to temperatures of up to 100 ° C, i.e. cooking temperatures, for complete cleaning.

The high liquid absorption capacity can only be achieved with polyvinyl alcohol fibers, the fact of the fully synthetic composition only with a binder made from a polyvinyl alcohol acetal. In a simple way, however, no fibers shrinking at temperature or heat are used, but rather non-shrinking polyvinyl alcohol fibers, which are only swirled to achieve the necessary strength of the cloth, as need to be needled, in order to be subsequently impregnated with the acetal. However, this must be one that contains substances as plasticizers that do not separate from the remaining polymers. The plasticized acetal should not change its property profile in the long run; components must not migrate. The cloth should have a soft feel even when dry and should remain cloth-compatible when wet and not assume a rubber-like character. Such a cloth has the great advantage that it has a liquid absorption capacity of up to 800% and, in addition to the other properties mentioned, can be cooked for your own cleaning, and this without changing its dimensions.
