Definitions
- the invention relates to a transporting device for a patient comprising a chair frame most suitably made of tube to bear the seat portion, wheels to move the said frame and in the frame upper part two projecting substantially horizontal bars to be connected to the frame, on which the seat portion made of soft material can be mounted, while the bars are in tubular formations in the seat portion ends and the bars can still be removed farther or closer in regard to each other in order to adjust the seat portion tension.
- a transporting device as described above is known from US patent publication 3,914,808, where the transporting device has as frame a vertical mast, into which height adjustment has been installed, supported on the vertical mast there are bearing bars for the seat portion, which can be removed from the bearing bars and threaded back onto them, the seat portion then having tubular formations in its both ends.
- the disadvantage of the above solution is the inconvenient behaviour of the seat portion by sitting, since in regard to the distance of bars the patient must sit on a quite oversized seat portion.
- the seat portion On sitting the seat portion droops to a deep hanging position despite supporting means presented in the publication and therefore the sitting person gets pressed by the seat fabric. Sitting becomes inconvenient and for the sitter's support there is no rest solution.
- the seat bearing bars can then, according to the publication, function as arm rests.
- the lifting and sinking motion must be very large, so the patient sitting on the edge of the bed rises up enough and off the bed, and on the other hand, can be moved back onto the bed edge, when the seat portion is hanging very low from the middle.
- the seat portion and bearing bar solution is the reason to the frame mast getting relatively high, when in the practice the patient sitting deep in hanging potion must by means of different shifts, seat changes, transports to the WC pan, and other transfers be lifted at least to each seat level.
- the invention is characterized in that as a device moving the bars a mechanism is arranged, by which the bars both draw away from each other and rise vertically.
- the advantage of the transporting device for a patient according to the invention is that by a relatively small disengagement of the bearing bars the seat fabric on the bars tightens between the bars almost horizontally lifting the patient sufficiently off the bedding. It is pleasant to sit on a tightly stretched fabric.
- the patient can be taken to the seat portion into a sitting position both backwards and forwards, necessary rests can be fixed to the device in any case.
- to the disengaging motion of the bars also the lifting motion of the bars is added, a sufficient rise of the seat portion is secured.
- Fig. 1 shows a bed and the removable seat portion placed on its edge.
- Fig. 2 shows the transporting device.
- Fig. 2a shows the bearing bar viewed from the end.
- Fig. 3 shows the transporting device in one position of use.
- Fig. 4 shows a mechanism for inclination of the transporting device legs.
- Fig. 5 shows the transporting device legs in the vertical.
- Figure 1 presents seat portion 2 as per the invention placed on bed 1 edge and onto which the patient lying in the bed is easily turned into sitting position without lifting the person.
- Seat portion 2 is a rectangular piece of strong fabric, in both ends of which there are tubular parts 3, most suitably sewed of same fabric. Furthermore, there are at least in the other end of tubular parts 3 slip nooses 4. By gripping of which seat portion is more easily pulled onto the bearing bars of the transporting device, when with the transporting device a patient is collected from the bed.
- the mutual distance of channels 3 in the seat portion 2 ends is fitted according to the distance of bearing bars 5.
- Figure 2 presents the frame of the transporting device, which has a lower frame 10 with wheels 11 and an upper frame 12 including bearing bars 5.
- There is height adjustment between the lower and upper frame that works telescopically by means of frame parts running within each other in fitting each time a peg 15 through holes in a suitable spot in order to secure the wanted height.
- the height adjustment can also be carried out mechanically using a long screw and nut part, a gear rack and a cogwheel, or for instance by means of a hydraulic cylinder.
- Frame 12 upper end has bushings 7, inside of which an axle leading to bearing 5 bars can rotate.
- an eccentric part 8 by means of which the centre line of bars 5 is deviated from the centre line of the said axle as shown in figure 2a.
- the deviation distance can be, for instance, 20 - 50 mm.
- control levers 9 by turning of which bearing bars 5 come closer or get farther from each other.
- a suitable locking is arranged, where their turning is prevented by means of locking at least a the position, where the bars are brought farther.
- the transporting device works according to the above presented solution, but a useful addition is a pushing/back rest equipment 13 connectable with its lower bars 17 for instance telescopically into the tubular axis leading to control levers 9 (fig. 2), whereat equipment 13 works both as pushing means and as back rest, if the patient is sitting in the actual direction and arm rests 16 of the equipment can still be used.
- a table top 14 can be fixed.
- the pushing/back rest equipment 13 is fixed to one side of seat portion 2, covering plugs 6 are removed from the ends of bars 5 and the lower bars of equipment 13 are pushed into bars 5. Since the distance of bars can vary a little, one corner 18 is made a joint allowing slight turning.
- Figure 2a shows the eccentric turning of bearing bar 5 on bushing 7. If bar 5 is turned about a half revolution anti-clockwise, as per the figure, so according to the example bar 5 gets farther as much as distance a and rises at the same time as much as distance b. As distance a easily for instance 60-100 mm can be chosen, whereat the total disengagement is 120 - 200 mm. Correspondingly, at the same time the rising distance b easily becomes 60 - 100 mm. By means of the solution a sufficient rise in the seat portion is achieved, especially when the patient gets seated in the portion that becomes the lowest part of it, whereat the patient gets easily off the bed edge, a chair, devices of different heights or beddings, and one does not always have to adjust the height level to different basic heights.
- the transporting device is ready for use, whereby it has the normal seat portion 2 resting on bearing bars 5.
- the patient is taken onto the seat portion, where there is an opening in the middle.
- transporting device transport of the patient onto the WC pan works best the patient sitting towards the pushing/back rest equipment 13 (table top removed). Thanks to the height adjustment of legs the patient can be collected from several seats of different heights.
- Figure 4 shows another exemplary mechanism, where legs 19 of the transporting device are articulated to turn in regard to bushing 7 that works as fixing point of bars 5 .
- screw mechanism 21, 22, 24 fixing piece 22 can be moved in screw 21 vertically.
- Articulated in fixing piece 22 for instance by means of a peg , there are bars 20, reaching to legs 19 and fixed to the same.
- Screw 21 is screwed from crank 24.
- wheels 11 of the transporting device freely able to turn in any direction.
