Abstract
Description
Hindernisstangen - Sicherheitsauflage ( Saf ety-Cups )Obstacle poles - safety pad (Saf ety-Cups)
Beschreibungdescription
The present invention relates to a bracket for an obstacle pole in horse jumping. In horse jumping, jumping obstacles are built up, which have to be jumped over by horse and rider in the context of a competition. Usual simple jump obstacles consist of two vertical obstacle stands and one or more horizontal obstacle poles, the holder being fastened to the obstacle stand and the obstacle pole being placed on the holder. Such obstacles are skipped across the direction of the obstacle bar. A one-piece, conventional holder has a bowl-shaped support surface for the obstacle bar on one side and one or more pins for insertion or hooking onto the obstacle stand on the other side. Various systems are used as a means of fastening the holder to the obstacle stand, which ensure that the cup-shaped contact surface points vertically. Two common systems are mentioned as examples. One is the keyhole rail where the obstacle stand has a row of keyhole shaped holes, and the second is the double hole row where the obstacle stand has a double row of round holes. The brackets are adapted to the corresponding system. The holder has a key-shaped pin for a keyhole rail and two round pins arranged in parallel for the double-hole system.
The function of the bowl-shaped contact surface is that the obstacle bar is slightly pushed horizontally when touched by horse or rider if the jump is too short or too flat. As a result, a clear touch of the obstacle bar is easily recognizable and is counted as penalty points in the evaluation. The disadvantage of conventional brackets is that they do not yield when the horse or rider predominantly acts vertically. Such balance of power can occur in a long jump, such as an oxer. An oxer consists of two simple obstacles placed one behind the other at a certain distance. If a jump over an oxer is too short, the rear simple obstacle is dangerous because the trajectory of the horse and rider points downwards. The horse can fall onto the obstacle pole. When falling onto the obstacle bar, it does not slide out of the holder and can absorb large forces. Such situations have already resulted in serious injuries to horses and riders. The international equestrian association (FEI) stipulates that from 2003 onwards, the rear obstacle to all jumping competitions is the long-distance jump on safety conditions (so-called safety cups). Such safety conditions must release the obstacle bar at a certain vertical force. This prevents heavy falls from horse and rider on such obstacles.
According to the invention, a safety support consisting of two parts, the fastening part and the spoon, is provided, which is designed so that the obstacle rod can fall out in the horizontal direction described above and that the spoon detaches from the fastening part in the vertical direction when loaded. The spoon, which is provided with a bowl-shaped contact surface, is held by magnetic force on the adapter plate of the fastening part and releases as soon as the magnetic force is exceeded. Adaoption is the word formation from adaptation and option. One side of the adapter plate is used to adapt the spoon and the other side offers options for attaching means for attachment to the Hind stand. According to the invention, it is immaterial whether the magnet or the magnets are integrated in the spoon or in the adapter plate. The counterpart, a plate made of magnetizable material, can be integrated in the spoon or represent the adaptation plate.
The preferred embodiment is described in the claims.
The invention is distinguished from the prior art in that a magnet is used for the non-positive connection of the two-part safety pad. The advantages over known safety requirements are that contamination by sand, sawdust and the like does not impair the function and that no mechanical wearing parts are used. As a result, the safety requirement according to the invention offers a high level of safety for years. For example, safety pads are available on the market that are equipped with steel springs and only function to a limited extent in the event of contamination or material fatigue.
