Abstract

The invention relates to a mechanical friction brake, especially for rail vehicles, and to a method for operating said friction brake. The friction brake is equipped with the following parts or has the following features: a friction lining for applying a braking friction force on a friction surface of a peripheral part that is to be slowed down; the friction lining is made of a friction material and a pressing system for applying a braking force on the friction lining. According to the invention, a pulsation device is provided, said device generating a pulsation of the braking force.
