Abstract

The wheel assembly disclosed includes an elongated lever (14) mounted at its upper end (16) of the luggage case by an axle (22). The lever supports a wheel (12) at its lower end. The lever protrudes from the frontmost portion of the wheel assembly so that the lever itself can engage and absorb the impact of a barrier or obstacle such as a curb or star step when the case is pulled over the obstacle, as well as help isolate the luggage case and the user's hand from vibration when the case is wheeled over a bumpy floor.
