Description

Appareil d'hygiène dentaire destiné au nettoiement simultané des dents des deux maxillairesDental hygiene device intended for the simultaneous cleaning of the teeth of the two maxillae

The present invention relates to a dental hygiene device, intended for the simultaneous cleaning of the teeth of the two maxillae.

Traditionally, toothbrushing is carried out by means of a toothbrush comprising a handle, one end of which is lined with parallel bristles intended to be impregnated with toothpaste. Brushing is carried out manually according to movements in preferred directions. There are also electrically operated toothbrushes, which are essentially of two types, those comprising a brush identical to a manual brush connected to a drive mechanism imparting to it a vibration or reciprocating movement, and those comprising at the end of a fixed handle, one or more brushes capable of being driven in a rotational movement.

Whether with manual or electric brushes, brushing to be effective must last a minimum of time for each of the teeth, and therefore the total brushing operation lasts relatively long, at least several minutes. However, this duration seems too long, and the operation too tedious for most people, who shorten brushing well before reaching the threshold of effectiveness. To overcome this drawback, devices have been proposed for simultaneously cleaning several or even all teeth, as is the case with the devices described for example in documents GB 546,136, US 4,224,710 and ΞP 101,618. To this end, these devices comprise a block intended to be introduced into the mouth of the user, and comprising two opposite faces in each of which is practiced a groove intended to accommodate a dental arch or a part thereof, the grooves being internally lined with brushes, or brush elements.

In document GB 546.136, the device is intended to be moved back and forth as with a toothbrush, similarly to the device of document US 4,224,710 where the brushes are further mounted on damping systems. As regards the apparatus described in document EP 0.101.618, the brushes are driven therein by a rotational movement. The devices of simple design, that is to say those of the documents GB 546.136, US 4,224,710 are tedious to use, while that of the document ΞP 101,618 is too complex to guarantee its longevity.

We also know from documents US 5,337,435 US 5,177,827, DE 34 37 191 of devices similar to that of document EP 0.101.618 in the sense that they comprise in an envelope intended to be placed in the mouth, a series brushes capable of being moved in order to clean the teeth. In addition to their construction complexity, these devices are faced with the drawback of depositing toothpaste, which when drying tends to impede the movement of the brushes.

Document DE 201.20.955 is also known, which describes an automatic brushing device, comprising two blocks each provided with a groove furnished with bristles and intended to accommodate a dental arch, as well as a motor means, intended to be also placed in the mouth and which is able to move one block relative to the other so as to create a brushing movement. Such an apparatus, in addition to the discomfort of its use, is not very effective due to the small amplitude of the brushing movement.

Un tel appareil est d'une grande complexité de fabricationAlso known from document WO 02/47512 is an automatic brushing device which comprises on the one hand two elements of deformable material having the shape of a chute, internally lined with bristles and each intended to cover a dental arch, and on the other hand, a motor means capable of being held at the hand and secured to said elements by means of three links, one, central, linked to the internal edges of said elements, and the other two, lateral, linked for one to the straight external edges of said elements while the other is linked to the left outer edges. The drive means is capable of animating the central connection and the lateral connections in an opposite manner, and in an alternating movement, so as to produce a shearing movement capable of deforming said elements in order to generate a brushing movement. Such a device is of great manufacturing complexity

3, le bloc 1 est constitué d'un assemblage de plusieurs pièces, en l'occurrence un élément principal 15 en forme de fer à cheval, à l'extrémité de chacune des branches duquel est abouté un prolongateur 16 autorisant une certaine modularité.3, the block 1 consists of an assembly of several parts, in this case a main element 15 in the shape of a horseshoe, at the end of each of the branches of which is joined an extension 16 allowing a certain modularity.

L'assujettissement d'un prolongateur 16 au reste du bloc 1 peut être réalisé de différentes manières, dans le mode de réalisation représenté, il est obtenu par encliquetage .Securing an extension 16 to the rest of the block 1 can be achieved in different ways, in the embodiment shown, it is obtained by snap-fastening.

Sur les figures 1 et 2 on peut voir que l'ensemble moteur 2 comporte une enveloppe extérieure 20 qui présente une forme ergonomique permettant une bonne prise en main, cette enveloppeIn FIGS. 1 and 2 it can be seen that the motor assembly 2 comprises an outer casing 20 which has an ergonomic shape allowing good grip, this casing

20 ayant par exemple les caractéristiques dimensionnelles d'un rasoir électrique.20 having for example the dimensional characteristics of an electric razor.

L'enveloppe 20 loge un moteur électrique 3 alimenté par un accumulateur rechargeable 30 ainsi qu'un réservoir 4 de pâte dentifrice, visible sur la figure 1.The envelope 20 houses an electric motor 3 powered by a rechargeable accumulator 30 as well as a reservoir 4 of toothpaste, visible in FIG. 1.

The block 1 and the engine assembly 2 are linked by a transmission means 5 coupled to the engine 3. With reference also to FIG. 4, it can be seen that the transmission means 5 is in the form of a crankshaft 50, which cooperates with an eccentric 31 driven in rotation by the motor 3.

The crankshaft 50 passes vertically through the casing 20, through an elastic ball joint 22 and its outer end 51 has laterally a means 52 for securing the block 1, which in this case consists of a recess 53 into which is introduced without game a tip 17 which projects from block 1 in front of the curved part thereof. The crankshaft 50, in association with the eccentric 31, transforms the rotational movement of the engine 3 into a displacement of the axis XX 'of the end piece 17, and therefore of the block 1, in a circle, which can be likened to oscillations or vibrations.

De manière avantageuse, le vilebrequin est percé d'un canal 54 connecté au réservoir 4 , et apte à être abouté à un canal 18 percé dans l'embout 17 et débouchant dans les gorges 10 et 11 en plusieurs orifices 19.Advantageously, the crankshaft is pierced with a channel 54 connected to the reservoir 4, and capable of being abutting a channel 18 pierced in the end piece 17 and opening into the grooves 10 and 11 in several orifices 19.

It will be noted that the distribution of toothpaste can also be carried out by means of an electrically operated system, in all cases it is planned to equip the channel 18 with a non-return system.

Ξn référence maintenant à la figure 5, on peut voir un mode de réalisation particulier du bloc 1, lequel présente deux zonesIt will be noted that from the manufacturing point of view, the block 1 can be produced by assembling two parts, one for each of the arches. Référencen now referring to FIG. 5, we can see a particular embodiment of block 1, which has two zones

These two zones Ξ are, in the embodiment shown, arranged in the curved part of the arches, preferably opposite the zones intended to receive the canines, so as to allow the spacing of the two branches of the U formed by the block 1 , and therefore the adaptation of the latter to different anatomies.

Selon une variante, non représentée, le bloc 1 est constitué de plusieurs sections rigides réunies deux à deux par une zone Ξ, lui donnant une forme annelée favorisantAccording to a variant, not shown, the block 1 consists of several rigid sections joined in pairs by a zone Ξ, giving it a ringed shape favoring

1' adaptation. With reference now to FIGS. 6a and 6b, it can be seen that, in a simplified and schematic manner, the block 1 is consisting of the assembly of different components, mainly walls arranged to form the grooves 10 and 11, and which are attached to each other by 1 'intermediaries of zones P, made, like the zones Ξ of a flexible material such that 'an elastomer.

This construction allows a certain flaring of the grooves 10 and 11, and promotes, in an increased manner when associated with zones Ξ, the adaptation of the block 1 to the anatomy of the user.
