Abstract

The invention relates to a grid for lead battery plate and to a plate having a grid of this kind. The grid comprises a frame (F), and inside the frame (F) a grid portion made of lead and having a given pattern is present, surrounding an active mass to be introduced in the plate and providing conduction of current to the same. The grid is comprised of a first grid segment (1) and an oppositely positioned second grid segment (2) having an insert (3) placed in between them. For manufacturing, material of fibreglass based insert (3) is guided through between two inversely rotated cylinders or a cylinder and a belt made of a flexible plate each of which is provided with required patterns or between two endless belts comprising casting die halves, and molten lead is applied on both sides of the insert so that it fills in the given pattern while adhering to the insert (3).
