Abstract

Zum Verbinden einzelner Abschnitte eines Seekabels oder zum Reparieren einer schadhaften Stelle eines solchen Seekabels, werden sogenannte Verbindungsmuffen eingesetzt. Problematisch ist die Verbindung von Lichtwellenleitern aufweisenden Seekabeln, und zwar insbesondere solcher, die über eine verhältnismässig grosse Anzahl von Lichtwellenleitern verfügen. Bisher bekannte Verbindungsmuffen sind hierzu entweder überhaupt nicht oder aber schlecht geeignet. Die Erfindung schlägt eine Verbindungsmuffe vor, die vor allem zum Verbinden von Seekabeln mit einer sehr grossen Anzahl von Lichtwellenleitern geeignet ist. Dazu sind in einem Gehäuse (21) der Verbindungsmuffe Kassetten (51) vorgesehen, in denen jeweils ein Teil der Lichtwellenleiter mindestens verbunden wird. Zusätzlich können im Gehäuse (21) auch Kassetten zum Aufteilen des Gesamtstrangs aller Lichtwellenleiter in Einzelstränge mit geringer Anzahl von Lichtwellenleitern oder Kassetten zur Verbindung der Lichtwellenleiter mit Verstärkern vorgesehen sein.
