Abstract

La présente invention permet de marquer et de détecter par voie optique des en-têtes de paquets, en ne convertissant au plus que les en-têtes (24) en données électroniques pour la prise de décisions de commutation de paquets, et de conserver le reste des paquets dans des lignes à retard optique (23), afin que les commutateurs optiques (29) puissent exécuter les décisions de commutation de paquets (28) à des débits binaires élevés. Cette solution présente une très haute extensibilité, et gagne encore en efficacité lors de l'utilisation d'adresses physiques. Une autre optimisation décrite dans la présente invention consiste en l'amélioration de l'efficacité de routage et de l'utilisation de la bande passante. A cette fin, des paquets de données identiques, émanant de la même source et dirigés vers la même zone générale, sont groupés avec des listes multiples de cibles connectées à chaque copie des données et envoyées ensemble à la zone cible générale. De préférence, lesdits paquets groupés sont ensuite divisés en groupes plus restreints par les routeurs situés dans la zone cible générale, et enfin divisés en paquets de données individuels destinés à être distribués aux destinations finales proprement dites.
