Abstract

A process for production of high-molecular compounds, characterized by comprising the following steps (A) and (B): (A) the step of polymerizing one or more monomers represented by the general formula (1) under such conditions that X1 and X2 can react with each other to form a bond and thereby obtaining a polymer having Y reactive groups: X1 - Ar1 - X2 (1) (wherein X1 and X2 are respectively reactive groups which can react with each other to form a bond; Ar1 is arylene, a divalent heterocyclic group, or a divalent aromatic amine group; and Ar1 bears at least one Y reactive group substantially inert to X1 and X2), and (B) the step of reacting the Y-bearing polymer obtained in the step (A) with a compound having a Z reactive group which can react with the Y reactive group to form a bond.
