Abstract

An assembly in connection with a handsfree phone in a vehicle, where there is for the driver a safety belt arrangement (9) in the vehicle and a handsfree equipment (7, 8) for using the phone (1). The assembly includes a detector (5) of safety belt ON position which is adapted to switch the calls by means of handsfree (7, 8) equipment, when the said device has detected that the safety belt is fastened and adapted to prevent said calls if no fastening of safety belt is detected.

Description

Arrangement in a vehicle hands free phone
The invention relates to an assembly connected to the handsfree equipment of a vehicle phone, by means of which handsfree calls are controlled.
Previously known in coimection with a vehicle phone are handsfree equipment by using of which the driver is able use both hands for driving. The phone itself can then be kept in a rack and the microphone and the loud speaker of the equipment placed close to the driver. If the phone is taken off the rack it can bee freely used without the handsfree equipment.
In many countries it has been regulated by legislation that during driving only handsfree calls are permitted. Thus it is neither allowed nor advisable to take the phone off the rack for a call On the other hand, the use of safety belt is made compulsory almost everywhere.
The use of safety belt is often neglected and, on the other hand, the driver wants to use the phone in all situations.
For better obey of these regulations and in order to avoid neglect, in the present invention the use of both the handsfree function ofthe phone and the safety belt is connected in a new way. The invention as per the invention is characterized in that the assembly includes a detector of safety belt fastening, which is arranged to connect the calls over the handsfree equipment, when the said equipment has detected that the safety belt is fastened, and arranged to prevent said calls, if the safety belt fastening has not been detected.
Other advantageous embodiments ofthe invention are presented in the dependent claims.
The advantage of he assembly as per this invention is that the driver cannot fail to use the safety belt if he/she wants to speak in the way permitted, e.g as a handsfree call. Thus the assembly as per the invention controls the behaviour of the driver and changes the fastening ofthe safety belt into an instinctive action also for those in the habit of failing the use of safety belt. In the following the invention is disclosed with reference to the enclosed drawing, where one assembly in connection with the safety belt and with the handsfree equipment is shown.
Figure 1 shows the safety belt 9 of a vehicle, which has as fastening means a nest part 4 and a tongue part 3 sliding and locking into it. Further shown in the figure is a phone 1 to be put into phone rack 2. As handsfree equipment there is a cable ninning from phone rack 3 to microphone 7 and a cable to loud speaker 8.
In connection with the handsfree fastening part 4 an electric switch 5 is placed that gets switched on, when tongue part 3 is pushed into place in nest part 4. Switch 5 for instance, is switched off by tongue part 3. From switch 5 there is a cable 6 to the phone rack. Cable 6 is of the same circuit with loud speaker 8, whereby the loud speaker current flow circulates through switch 5. In this solution switch 5 is on the safety belt/detector of absence.
The microphone can also be of the same circuit with switch 5, the switch then having other tips for the microphone cable. Then both loudspeaker and microphone are out of function till the safety bell is fastened.
In one embodiment the control current ofthe handsfree equipment works by switch 5 and this control current switches and opens the circuit both of loudspeaker and microphone by means of separate relays, which are most suitably in the phone rack.
In one embodiment the detector in nest 4 is a cordless transmitter sending to safety belt on/off data cordlessly to the phone rack, for instance a message of Bluetooth type. For instance, the transmitter in nest 4 gets its power from the safety belt system circuit conducted to nest 4. In nest 4 there can also be a transponder snatching the necessary signal transmitting energy from the radiation field sent from rack 2 or from the electromagnetic field ofthe environment.
In one embodiment the handsfree equipment is controlled by taking safety belt on/off data from the circuit of the safety belt warning system. In many vehicles there is a warning light circuit giving alarm when the driver's belt is not fastened.
Control of safety belt can be taken even from other parts ofthe belt than fastening nest 4, but the most reliable detection is achieved from nest 4. As loudspeakers of handsfree equipment the loudspeakers of the vehicle radio are used. As loudspeakers of the handsfree equipment also so called ear phones suitable in this case. A suitable way to install the loudspeaker is to place it in connection with the safety belt fastening nest 4, from where it can taken off for instance, by means of a winding-up cable. The location of the microphone can be freely chosen near the driver. The microphone can be by means of a cable connected to the handsfree equipment or wireless, for instance, by means of a Bluetooth transmitter. In a wireless case necessary operating voltage for the microphone must be arranged.

Claims

1. An assembly in connection with a handsfree phone in a vehicle , where there is for the driver a safety belt arrangement (9) in the vehicle, the arrangement including a detector (5) of safety belt ON position and in addition there is in the vehicle a handsfree equipment (7,8) for using the phone (1), characterized in that in the assembly detector (5) is adapted to switch the calls by means of handsfree (7,8)equipment, when the said device has detected that the safety belt is fastened and adapted to prevent said calls if no fastening of safety belt is detected.
2. An assembly according to claim 1 characterized in that detector (5) of safety belt ON position is placed in connection with fastening means (3,4) ofthe safety belt.
3. An assembly according to claim 1 or 2 characterized in that the detector is placed in connection with the device indicating the ON/OFF position ofthe safety belt.
4. An assembly according to any above claim 1 - 3 characterized in that for preventing the use ofthe handsfree equipment the assembly includes disconnection ofthe circulation leading to microphone (7) and/or to loudspeaker (8.
5. An assembly according to any above claim 1 - 4 characterized in that the data from the detector is transmitted wirelessly to control the handsfree equipment.
6. An assembly according to any above claim 1 - 5 characterized in that one or several connections of communication or data transfer are arranged wirelessly by means ofthe Bluetooth component.
