Abstract

A headband for helmets, which is capable of being quickly, easily and reliably mounted on and dismounted from the head even for a helmet of the type adapted to be donned deeply to the back of the head. The headband has an engaging pawl in the other end, the two ends being slid to adjust the circumferential length, the headbands being annularly connected by engagement between the engaging groove and the engaging pawl, the engaging pawl being provided on an elastic piece attached substantially parallel with the other end, whereby in a state in which the engaging pawl is engagingly stopped in the engaging groove, the one end is free to advance with respect to the other end but non-retractable, while allowing the elastic piece to spring cancels the engagement between the engaging groove and the engaging pawl, wherein the advance of the one end is affected by a pulling action on a rope.
