Abstract

The invention is a system and method for processing a transaction, the system having a database (10), a first user module (30), and a second user module (40). Messages are exchanged between the first (30) and second (40) user modules and are stored in the database (10) in a sequential message thread. The message thread may be accessed and appended by either the first (30) or second (40) user modules. Each user module allows a respective user to check the status of messages, receive notice of a new message, reply to messages, or negotiate the transaction within the message thread. The message thread may be utilized to define the transaction.
