Abstract

L'invention concerne un traitement automatisé de paquets de données entrants, tels que des messages de courrier électronique, d'une manière spécifiée par le destinataire. Ce procédé comporte un traitement dépendant : 1) des caractéristiques de l'expéditeur ou des destinataires des paquets, ces caractéristiques étant extraites de répertoires stockant des données représentant ces parties ; 2) du programme de remise de ces paquets ; 3) de l'heure par rapport à un événement ; 4) d'un état spécifié de destinataire, et 5) du programme du destinataire. Les répertoires stockant les données représentant les caractéristiques de l'expéditeur et/ou des destinataires peuvent être consultés selon le protocole standard X.500 ou selon un protocole léger d'accès au répertoire (LDAP). L'heure par rapport à un événement comprend le temps précédant ou suivant des événements tels que tentative de remise de paquet de données, expiration du paquet de données et notification du destinataire. Le destinataire spécifie des variables d'état ainsi que des valeurs pour ces variables, par exemple des variables d'état booléen correspondant à « en congé » et « en voyage d'affaires ». De plus, le programme du destinataire est consulté pour déterminer l'état programmé du destinataire (p. ex. libre ou en réunion), et les paquets de données peuvent être traités en conséquence.
