Abstract

L'invention concerne une fraise d'athérectomie possédant un diamètre fonctionnel supérieur au diamètre d'un cathéter dans lequel la fraise progresse. La fraise peut comprendre un ballonnet polymère enrobé d'un abrasif qui se déploie lorsque ladite fraise tourne. Lorsque la fraise tourne, le ballonnet polymère se déploie sous l'effet d'une force centrifuge. Le déploiement maximum de la fraise est commandé au moyen d'un mécanisme d'expansion. Différents mécanismes permettent de commander le diamètre maximum de la fraise, ce qui empêche la surdilatation de ladite fraise. L'invention concerne également un système qui empêche les matières particulaires détachées de provoquer une nouvelle embolie dans le système vasculaire distal. Ce système comprend une fraise d'ablation dotée d'un abrasif disposé sur l'extrémité proximale, et ramené vers le cathéter de guidage pour supprimer la lésion. La fraise forme un joint lorsqu'elle se dilate de façon à bloquer la matière particulaire détachée, la matière particulaire du vaisseau d'un patient ou du stent pouvant être supprimée à l'aide d'un système d'aspiration. Selon un autre mode de réalisation, le système de fraise peut comprendre un joint se dilatant automatiquement, qui est déployé en dehors de la gaine d'aspiration de sorte qu'un léger vide permet de supprimer les grosses particules détachées du vaisseau d'un patient ou du stent.
