Abstract

The present invention provides a method and system to distribute a multimedia data stream over an information network to a plurality of clients, collectively characterized by possessing heterogeneous resource capabilities in order to maximize the quality of effectiveness of the multimedia broadcast for each of the plurality of clients. In particular, multimedia quality is dynamically adjusted at each client based upon a resource metric parameter and a quality profile parameter.
