Abstract

A removable emergency light, its particularity consisting of the fact that it comprises a body suitable to reproduce, in terms of dimensions and shape, a Schuko plug, and a cover that is arranged in an upward region with respect to the body and is suitable to accommodate at least one lighting means and means for indication the status of the light.

Description

REMOVABLE EMERGENCY LIGHT HAVING IMPROVED CHARACTERISTICS
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a removable emergency light having improved characteristics. More particularly, the invention relates to a removable emergency light that can be used as an auxiliary light in case of power outage and as a portable torch.
It is known that two kinds of light are currently available as emergency lights.
A first kind is dedicated, i.e., the light is provided with a fixed power supply part plus a removable light, but these lights cannot be inserted in sockets of the
Schuko type.
The second kind of light provides lights that are composed of the light alone but are very bulky. These lights are generally fixed, arranged on DIN guides and are used merely for warning, since they cannot be extracted and used as torches. Essentially, currently there are no dual-mode lights, i.e., lights that can be used as an auxiliary light in case of power outage and as a portable torch, which can be mounted on modular sockets (for DIN bars) of the Schuko type, mounted on panels and control units, or can be inserted in Schuko sockets for civil use and in 10-A sockets or multiple-gang sockets. In practice, each manufacturer has its own standard and the corresponding light meets that standard, without ensuring interchangeability among sockets as regards emergency lights, which are therefore provided so that they are dedicated to each socket type.
The aim of the present invention is to provide a removable emergency light that is substantially universal and can be adapted to modular sockets (for DIN bars) and civil sockets.
Within the scope of this aim, an object of the present invention is to provide a removable emergency light that can be mounted both on Schuko modular sockets and on Schuko sockets for civil use.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a removable emergency light that has extremely small dimensions and therefore does not interfere with the closure of the corresponding doors or covers of panels and control units. Another object of the present invention is to provide a removable emergency light that allows, once the light has been removed, to use the standard Schuko socket even in the absence of the light, and therefore to move the light to the most useful socket.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a removable emergency light that is highly reliable, relatively simple to provide and at competitive costs.
This aim, these objects and others that will become apparent hereinafter are achieved by a removable emergency light, characterized in that it comprises a body suitable to reproduce, in terms of dimensions and shape, a Schuko plug, and a cover that is arranged in an upward region with respect to said body and is suitable to accommodate at least one lighting means and means for indicating the status of the light.
Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the description of an emergency light according to the invention, illustrated only by way of non-limitative example in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view, taken from below, of the emergency light according to the present invention;
Figure 2 is a perspective view, taken from above, of the emergency light according to the present invention;
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the insertion of the emergency light according to the invention in a Schuko modular socket; and
Figure 4 is a view of the insertion of the emergency light according to the invention in a civil Schuko socket.
With reference to the above cited figures, the emergency light according to the present invention, generally designated by the reference numeral 1, comprises a body 2 that is suitable to reproduce, in terms of dimensions and shape, a standard Schuko plug, with two pins 3. On the front part of the body 2 there is a cover 4, which is more substantially quadrangular and protrudes with respect to the body 2 of the light; means for indicating the functions of the light are arranged on said cover. More particularly, at the central region of the cover 4 there is at least one lighting LED 5, which is accommodated within the cover 4 and is protected by a transparent surface in order to allow the passage of the light that arrives from the LED 5.
Furthermore, the means for indicating the condition of the light, arranged laterally to the lighting LED 5, are conveniently constituted for example by at least one green LED 6 which, if lit, indicates that the auxiliary light function is activated; it is also possible to provide at least one red LED 7 which, if lit, indicates that the auxiliary light function is deactivated.
Furthermore, on the cover 4 there can be switch means 8 suitable to switch the light 1 on and off. The body 2 of the light, whose dimensions reproduce the shape of the Schuko plug, can therefore be inserted in a Schuko modular socket 10, as shown in Figure 3, in which the light 1 is accommodated in one of the sockets 11 provided on the body of the Schuko modular socket 10, or can be accommodated in a Schuko socket for civil use 12, as shown in Figure 4. In both cases, the only portion of the light 1 that protrudes from the Schuko modular socket 10 or from the Schuko civil socket 12 is constituted by the cover 4, thus obtaining a light that is in both cases accommodated substantially flush with the front surface of the sockets. This leads to an extremely small space occupation for the light. The body 2 of the light accommodates the power supply part of said light, which is thus rigidly associated with the light, and can therefore adapt to any standard Schuko socket, thus allowing to use the socket in the absence of the light and to move the auxiliary light into the socket that is most useful in each instance.
Therefore, the emergency light according to the invention solves the problem of safety lights, without adopting the standard of a manufacturer and with the additional advantage of flexibility of use, since it can be used both as an emergency light in case of power outage and as a portable (rechargeable) torch. Furthermore, the emergency light 1 according to the invention can also be inserted in 10-A sockets or multiple-gang sockets, i.e., sockets suitable to receive the pins 3. In this case, however, the protrusion of the emergency light 1 from the socket is greater than in the case in which said light is inserted in Schuko sockets, which adapt perfectly to the body 2 of the light.
In practice it has been found that the emergency light according to the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects, since it allows adaptation to any standard Schuko socket, thus allowing to move the light among sockets, with the additional advantage of being able to use the Schuko socket even when the light is not present, by virtue of the fact that the power supply part of the light is inserted directly in the body of said light.
The emergency light thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the inventive concept; all the details may furthermore be replaced with other technically equivalent elements. In practice, the materials used, so long as they are compatible with the specific use, as well as the dimensions, may be any according to the requirements and the state of the art.

Claims

1. A removable emergency light, characterized in that it comprises a body suitable to reproduce, in terms of dimensions and shape, a Schuko plug, and a cover that is arranged in an upward region with respect to said body and is suitable to accommodate at least one lighting means and means for indicating the status of the light.
2. The emergency light according to claim 1, characterized in that said at least one lighting means comprises at least one lighting LED, which is arranged at said cover and is covered by a transparent portion of said cover.
3. The emergency light according to claim 1, characterized in that said indication means comprise at least one LED for indicating the activation of the auxiliary light function.
4. The emergency light according to claim 1, characterized in that said means for indicating the status of the light comprise at least one LED for indicating the deactivation of the auxiliary light function.
5. The emergency light according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that it can be inserted in a Schuko modular socket.
6. The emergency light according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that it can be inserted in a Schuko civil socket.
7. The emergency light according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said light body is accommodated completely within said modular or civil Schuko socket, said cover being the only portion of said light that protrudes partially from said Schuko socket.
