Densímetro para líquidosDensimeter for liquids

Sector técnico de la invenciónTechnical sector of the invention

The present invention relates to a densimeter for liquids, which finds particular application for measuring the density of wines and spirits contained in fermentation tanks.

Estado de la técnicaState of the art

It is known in the sector of viticulture and winemaking that, during the fermentation phase in vats of grape must for its transformation into wine, that the alcoholic grade that will acquire the final product depends mainly, although not exclusively, of the sugar content of the grapes, at the expense of which fermentation takes place. This final alcohol content, consisting of ethanol or ethyl alcohol, will be one of the determining factors of the quality and definitive properties of the wine, and therefore, it is very important to control its evolution during the fermentation phase, given that during its aging in barrels will not vary ostensibly. The alcohol content of a wine or must in the fermentation phase is approximately directly related to the density of the wine or must, so the control of its evolutionary density is a good system for the control of the alcohol content or the content of sugars To determine the density of musts and wines in their evolution in order to control the distillation or degree of fermentation of the must and determine when fermentation ends, densimeters are currently used of the aerometric type, which are density measurement devices constituted by a rod graduated in Baumé grades, which are placed in a test tube filled with a sample of the wine whose density or alcoholic strength is to be determined and on which they float. The aerometer rises more or less above the free level of wine depending on the lower or higher density of the liquid, in direct application of the Archimedes principle.

However, these known densimeters or aerometers suffer from the disadvantage that they require extracting a certain amount of liquid from the fermentation vessel, which, in addition to being cumbersome, can lead to an unreliable or repetitive measurement of the sample, especially if it is taken from an area of the tank that is not representative.

The inventors have devised a densimeter for the continuous measurement of the density of the wine in a fermentation vessel, which is completely exempt from the previous drawback, and which significantly improves the functionality of the current Baumé type aerometers or densimeters.

Explicación de la invenciónExplanation of the invention.

The object of the present invention is a denser ether, of novel concept and functionality, which in essence is characterized by the fact that it comprises an elongated hollow tube communicated with two parallel ducts essentially perpendicular to the axis of the hollow tube, intended for be introduced in two holes made for this purpose in the wall of said liquid container reservoir whose density is to be measured, the hollow tube being coupled, in its upper part, to a transparent tubular extension of constant diameter, in fluid communication with The said hollow tube. According to In this invention, the densimeter comprises in its interior an aerometer, equipped with a graduated elongated upper rod and arranged free of vertical displacement but with a certain axial play inside the assembly. Thanks to this, by putting the densimeter in fluid communication with the liquid in question, filling it partially therewith, the height of the liquid with respect to said rod is a direct function of the density or alcohol content of the liquid. The transparent tubular extension can be coupled to the elongated hollow tube by threading or, alternatively, it can be attached to the elongated hollow tube without continuity solution.

According to another feature of the present invention, at least one of the two parallel ducts comprises a shut-off valve of the liquid passage.

It is provided that the elongated hollow tube is open at its bottom and comprises, immediately upstream of the corresponding opening, a normally closed purge valve.

Preferiblemente, el densímetro según la presente invención comprende, en su extremo superior, una válvula de aire, adaptada para la introducción o extracción de aire del interior de la prolongación tubular transparen- te.Preferably, the densimeter according to the present invention comprises, at its upper end, an air valve, adapted for the introduction or extraction of air from inside the transparent tubular extension.

According to another characteristic of the densimeter object of the present invention, the parallel ducts are provided, at their ends intended to remain inside the tank under operating conditions, of two filters, adapted to prevent the passage of solid particles into the densimeter.

According to a preferred embodiment, the densimeter comprises automatic free level sensing means that the liquid acquires inside the den a meter with respect to the graduated rod of the aerometer, means generating a signal representative of said level, and means transmitting said signal to a remote data processing device.

Preferably, said automatic level sensing means are constituted by an electronic altimetric reader, communicated by means of a wire or wirelessly with said remote data processing device.

Breve descripción de los dibujosBrief description of the drawings

The description is made below of a preferred, but not limited to, embodiment of the liquid meter of the present invention, for which better understanding is accompanied by a sheet of drawings, given merely by way of non-limiting example, whose The only figure is a schematic representation, in elevation and in partial section, of a densimeter according to the invention.

In Fig. 1 it can be seen that the liquid densimeter of the present invention is constituted, as main elements, by an elongated hollow tube 18, two parallel ducts 1 and 2, a transparent upper tubular extension 12 and an inner aerometer 13, constituted for example a Baumé type aerometer.

The liquid densimeter of the present invention is particularly designed for the determination of the density and alcoholic strength of the wine 6 contained in a fermentation vessel or tank 24. Therefore, the embodiment of the present invention is explained in relation to this application, although you should it is not limited to it, but the densimeter in question can be applied equally to other types of liquids. Therefore, the terms "wine 6" and "liquid 6" and "tank 24" or "fermentation tank 24" are used interchangeably in the following.

The elongated hollow tube 18 is open at its bottom and comprises, immediately upstream of the corresponding opening 19, a normally closed purge valve 11. Both parallel ducts 1, 2 are essentially perpendicular to the axis of the hollow tube 18 and are adapted to collaborate with each other and corresponding holes made for this purpose in the wall 5 of the wine fermentation tank 24 6. In their operative position, the tubes 1, 2 remain in horizontal position.

The parallel ducts 1, 2 have at their ends intended to be inside the fermentation vessel 24, with two perforated filters 22, 23, which serve to prevent the introduction of solid particles, for example the skin or the seeds of the grape, inside the densimeter. Conveniently, the diameter of the holes may be about 2 mouse.

The hollow tube 18 receives, in its upper part, the coupling of said transparent tubular extension 12, whose diameter is constant and with which it is in permanent fluid communication.

In the example illustrated, the transparent tubular extension 12 is coupled to the elongated hollow tube 18 by means of a thread 21. Alternatively, the transparent tubular extension 12 can be attached to the elongated hollow tube 18 without continuity solution, that is to say forming a single piece with it.

The transparent tubular extension 12 comprises, at its upper end, an air valve 16, adapted for the introduction or extraction of air from the top of the transparent tubular extension 12.

The tubular extension 12 can be of any transparent material compatible with the liquid 6 whose density is to be measured - in this case it came - for example glass or transparent plastic. The elongated hollow tube 18 is preferably of a liquid resistant material 6, such as stainless steel, for example AISI 316, although, of course, other materials are not excluded.

For a standard fermentation tank 24 it has been thought that the inner diameter of the tube assembly 18 and extension 12 may be about 24 mm, while the total length of said assembly may be between about 200 and about 500 mm , being an estimated length as preferable of about 400 mm. It has been estimated that the distance between the axes of the ducts 1 and 2 can be between 10 and 40 c, preferably 24 cm. Said assembly formed by the tube 18 and the extension 12 houses said aerometer 13 inside it, which is provided with a graduated elongated upper rod 20 and can move freely with a certain axial play through the assembly 12, 18. With all in order to install the densimeter of the invention in its operative position, it is only necessary to introduce the ends of the ducts 1 and 2 inside the fermentation tank 24, to put the densimeter in fluid communication with the liquid 6 in question , partially filling it. For this, the upper and lower ducts 2 can be removable from the elongated hollow tube by means of threaded joints 9, 10 or equivalent means. The conduits 1, 2 can be introduced in the tank 24, and coupled to the wall 6 thereof, for example by means of threading 3, 4, and mounting the tube 18 through said threaded joints 9, 10.

The threading means 3, 4; threaded joints 9, 10; and, where appropriate, the thread 21 is preferably provided with sealing means, for example, gaskets or equivalent elements.

Plugs can be provided for closing the holes in the fermentation tank 24 when the density is not installed.

To close the passage of liquid 6 through the densimeter at will, the parallel ducts 1, 2 comprise two shut-off valves 7, 8.

El concreto, la altura del nivel libre 17 de líquido 6 con respecto al vastago 20 del aerómetro 13 es función directa de la densidad o contenido en alcohol del líquido 6.Thus, and in a manner known per se, the vertical displacement of the aerometer 13 will be determined by the density of the liquid 6, in this case it came 6, under analysis, in direct application of the Archimedes principle. The concrete, the height of the free level 17 of liquid 6 with respect to the rod 20 of the aerometer 13 is a direct function of the density or alcohol content of the liquid 6.

For the reading of this height, and therefore the determination of the alcoholic density or grade of the wine 6 or liquid in question, the rod 20 can be directly calibrated in units of density, for example, g / cm 3 , or well in percentage units of alcohol content.

In Fig. 1 it can be seen that the densimeter comprises automatic sensing means of the free level 17, constituted in this example of concrete embodiment, by an electronic altimetric reader 14, communicated by means of a wire 15 or wirelessly with a remote computer processing device of data. For this, the system is preferably provided with generating means. of a representative signal of said level.

The liquid 6 is in permanent communication with the cylindrical cavity of said assembly formed by the extension 12 and the tube 18 that houses the aerometer 13, so that the measurements can be carried out continuously both visually and automatically, being sent in the latter case, also continuously, to a computerized data processing system.

In this way, in applications of fermentation vats 24 of grape must, continuous monitoring of the progress of the fermentation of wine 6 can be carried out.

In order to achieve perfect homogeneity with the rest of the contents of the tank 24, the densimeter must be purged periodically, preferably every 24 hours, closing the shut-off valves 7 and 8 and opening the purge valve 11.

At the beginning of the fermentation, the pressure in the upper part of the densimeter must be adjusted through said upper air valve 16 ,, insufflating air inside the assembly 12, 18 until the pressure gauge is equalized. When stabilized, the altimeter reader 14 is adjusted by means of the height adjustment of the optical reader. Describing sufficiently the nature of the present invention, as well as the way of putting it into practice, it is stated that whatever does not alter, change or modify its fundamental principle may be subject to variations in detail.
