Abstract

An elevator system, which uses BlueToothTM technologies to transmit control / communication / positional data from a computer on/in the lift car to the group control computer [GC unit] typically in/at the lift motor room. The signal uses BlueGenieTM technology to transmit the signal from the car up to 1km. The data stream is packaged with unique address data for each elevator / system set block. Each landing door block set ha a PC card transmitter / receiver to enable pre-arrival communication from the car / GC unit. These door set PC's control landing illumination / waiting passenger information.

Description

WIRELESS CONTROL FOR ELEVATOR SYSTEM
This invention is a system of the use of wireless data transfer from an elevator car, landing door or other elevator component to the system control computer or other system component.
The basis of the invention is the incorporation of a wireless data transfer protocol such as BlueTooth and/or BlueGenie technologies into the data stream flow of an elevator system to send but not limited to, car positional location data, car call registers, landing calls, speed, direction, load, system status from components in the system to system controller and monitoring systems.
The system uses wireless communication for voice transfer, audio & video communication and security data.
Each elevator has a discrete identification, which is transmitted in the data package header to other members of the system to identify the specific transmitting unit.
A preferred arrangement of the elevator system will be called WES
Figure 1 shows a present standard elevator design:
Item 4 is a multi core 'travelling cable' used to carry power and signals to the lift car and data from the car to the controller in the motor room
Figure 2 shows a new WES modified system with item:
1 System controller with modem link
2 Landing door set PC card with modem link
3 Elevator cab set PC card^with modem link 5 power cable to car since power usage is reduced cable / trunking is much smaller in d i a m ete r/ca p a city future systems may have rechargeable batteries on liftcar and cable dispensed with in total

Claims

1. A system controlling elevators and other systems in a lift shaft by wireless data transfer technologies such as BlueTooth, BlueGenie other communication and associated technologies.
2. A system to transmit communication data to an elevator car from the Controller / Group Controller/ Other building facility by wireless data transfer technologies such as BlueTooth, BlueGenie other communication and associated technologies.
3. A system transmit/ receive data to/ from a lift car to/from a block system set e.g. landing doors by wireless data transfer technologies such as BlueTooth, BlueGenie other communication and associated technologies.
4. The system can transfer data between Group controllers and motor rooms / shafts by wireless data transfer technologies such as BlueTooth, BlueGenie other communication and associated technologies.
5. A system that removes the need for a standard travelling cable elevator installation system.
6. A system that can use other beams systems such as microwave, laser for elevator car positional calculations.
7. More aesthetically pleasing installation in exposed/glass shafts
8. Less expensive to install / maintain
9. Easier to remotely monitor system
BlueTooth and BlueGenie are technologies developed by others and are trademarks of third parties. All third party rights acknowledged.
