Description

SYSTEM AND METHOD OF PURCHASING CYBER TICKET
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a system and method of purchasing a cyber ticket using a personal mobile communication terminal. In particular, the present invention relates to a system and method of purchasing a cyber ticket which enables a purchaser to connect to a ticket selling server through the mobile Internet using a desired mobile communication terminal after purchasing a ticket through the Internet using a personal computer or a portable mobile communication terminal, and to load a corresponding cyber ticket on the terminal, so that the cyber ticket can be used m the same manner as a general ticket .
Background Art
Conventionally, several methods of purchasing tickets representing small-sum securities such as various kinds of tickets, entrance tickets, etc. have been used. One method is that a purchaser goes to the place where tickets are on sale, and buys the ticket by paying the corresponding amount of money. Another method is that the purchaser reserves a desired ticket by making a phone call to a desired ticket office, goes to the corresponding ticket issuing place before the use time of the reserved ticket, and then receives the ticket by paying the corresponding amount of money to use the ticket on the date and time noted on the ticket .
However, the above-described ticket purchasing methods have the problems m that since the purchaser should directly visit to the ticket office, he/she, being the busy moderns, is greatly restricted by time.
Recently, as cyber space has expanded, a ticket purchasing method using cyber space has been used m such a manner that the purchaser directly visits to the home page of a ticket selling server on the Internet to reserve a desired ticket, visits a corresponding ticket seller with a reservation number issued after completion of the ticket reservation, and then receives the ticket by paying the corresponding amount of money. As a similar method, the purchaser pays for the ticket into the bank account number of the home page establisher, after visiting the home page and completing the ticket reservation process, and then receives the ticket by mail or express delivery.
An improved ticket purchasing method has also been used in such a manner that the purchaser visits the home page of a ticket selling server on the Internet to reserve a ticket, settles the ticket fee by inputting the purchaser's credit card number or by using cyber money.
However, the above-described ticket purchasing method through the Internet also has the problems in that the purchaser should visit the ticket office directly to receive the ticket after payment of the ticket fee. Also, in case that the ticket is delivered by mail or express delivery after the electronic settlement, the ticket purchaser should receive the ticket with the added burden of postage. Also, since the purchase is effected using the Internet, it is inconvenient for a purchaser without access to a computer, and the waiting period for receiving the ticket is lengthened, resulting in that the purchaser who wishes to purchase the ticket promptly cannot but directly visit the ticket selling window.
A further improved ticket purchasing method has also been used in such a manner that the purchaser purchases a railway ticket on the Internet using electronic money or credit card, receives the download of the corresponding ticket, and prints the downloaded ticket via color printer in order to use the printed ticket. This method also has the problems in that since the purchaser should use the printed ticket, the purchase of the ticket is actually possible only in a place where at least a personal computer and a color printer are installed, and thus, this method cannot be used during movement or m a place where a computer and a color printer are not installed
Recently, an advance ticket purchasing method using a mobile communication terminal has been proposed According to this method, a client connects to a server through the Internet or the ARS (Audio Response System) of a telephone, reserves a ticket, and then inputs the number of his/her own mobile communication terminal . Subsequently, the server transmits a specified code to the client's mobile communication terminal through a mobile communication service provider, reads out the code displayed on the mobile communication terminal through a code reader, and confirms the reservation of the client carrying the mobile communication terminal . However, m order to achieve the above-described advance ticket purchasing method, the mobile communication terminal should employ a separate internal memory to store the code transmitted from the server, and a code reader connected to the server should essentially be provided to read the code displayed on the mobile communication terminal. Moreover, since the code is one-sidedly transmitted from the server to the client, and the contents of the reservation is m the form of a code (i.e., a character message or bar code), the client cannot confirm the contents of the reservation until the final confirmation of the reservation, and security problems may occur.
Disclosure of the Invention
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to solve the problems involved m the prior art and to provide a system and method of purchasing a cyber ticket which enables a ticket purchaser to conveniently purchase a ticket and to display the purchased ticket on a mobile communication terminal to use the ticket, without the need for a separate memory m the mobile communication terminal Another object of the present invention is to provide a system and method of purchasing a cyber ticket which enables interactive communication between a ticket purchaser and a ticket selling server, and enables the ticket purchaser to confirm the contents of the ticket at any time prior to the use of the ticket by displaying the contents of the reservation m the form of a ticket on the mobile communication terminal.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a system and method of purchasing a cyber ticket which can ensure the reliability m security by giving an identification (ID) /password capable of confirming the authenticity of the ticket when using the purchased ticket . In order to accomplish the above mentioned objects, the present invention provides a cyber ticket purchasing system comprising: mobile communication terminals capable of inputting information on a ticket purchase request and a payment settling means on the Internet, connecting to a mobile Internet, and displaying a previously purchased ticket m the form of a cyber ticket through a display window thereof when using the ticket; a mobile communication network for transmitting information on the ticket purchase request and the payment settling means from the mobile communication terminal, and transmitting received information on whether or not ticket purchase is possible and whether or not its transaction is approved to the mobile communication terminal; an Internet for transmitting information on the ticket purchase request and the payment settling means received from the mobile communication network, and transmitting to the mobile communication network the transmitted information on whether or not the transmitted ticket purchase is possible and whether or not its transaction is approved; a ticket selling server for receiving information on the ticket purchase request and the payment settling means from the Internet, and confirming whether or not the ticket purchase is possible and whether or not its transaction is approved, the ticket selling server transmitting to the Internet a corresponding message and ticket information m the form of a cyber ticket if it is confirmed that the ticket purchase is possible and its transaction is approved, while transmitting to the Internet a corresponding message if it is confirmed that the ticket purchase is not possible or its transaction is not approved; and an inquiry and settlement system for receiving and inquiring about information on the payment settling means from the ticket selling server, and providing information on whether or not the transaction is approved to the ticket selling server.
The cyber ticket purchasing system may further comprise a ticket issuer server for providing information on whether or not the ticket purchase is possible based on a ticket selling status to the ticket selling server, if the ticket purchase request is received from the ticket selling server. In another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a cyber ticket purchasing method comprising the steps of: a ticket purchaser connecting to a ticket selling server through the Internet using a personal computer or a mobile communication terminal; the ticket purchaser inputting the desired ticket information to the ticket selling server; the ticket selling server transmitting information on whether or not a ticket purchase is possible to the ticket purchaser based on the inputted ticket information; if the transmitted ticket selling information represents that the ticket purchase is possible, the ticket purchaser inputting information on a payment settling means to the ticket selling server to settle the ticket charge; the ticket selling server inquiring the inputted information on the payment settling means, and then transmitting information on whether or not its transaction is approved to the ticket purchaser; f the transaction is approved, the ticket selling server transmitting a reservation completion message to the ticket purchaser, and transmitting corresponding reservation information and identification (ID) /password to a ticket issuer; when using the ticket, the ticket purchaser connecting to the ticket selling server through a mobile communication network and the Internet using the mobile communication terminal, and displaying the ticket implemented m the form of a cyber ticket on a display window of the mobile communication terminal after a specified log-m process; and the ticket issuer verifying the authenticity of the ticket by comparing the ID/password of the ticket displayed on the display window of the mobile communication terminal of the ticket purchaser with the ID/password previously received from the ticket selling server.
In the above-described ticket purchasing method, the step of transmitting information on whether or not the ticket purchase is possible may be performed in a manner that the ticket selling server transmits the inputted ticket information to the ticket issuer server, receives the ticket selling information from the ticket issuer server, and then transmits information on whether or not the ticket purchase is possible to the ticket purchaser.
Also, m the above-described cyber ticket purchasing method, the step of verifying the authenticity of the ticket may be performed m a manner that the ticket issuer displays the ID/password on the display window of the mobile communication terminal by pressing a button for controlling a "ticket examination" menu m the ticket displayed on the display window of the mobile communication terminal, and then compares the displayed ID/password with the ID/password previously received from the ticket selling server.
Also, the step of the ticket purchaser inputting the desired information to the ticket selling server may be performed m a manner that the ticket purchaser inputs information on the mobile communication terminal of the ticket purchaser or a third person to receive the ticket m addition to the ticket information.

As described later, the ticket issuer server 5 is not necessarily provided in the present invention. Meanwhile, the personal mobile communication terminals 1 and 8 should be terminals having a function of using the Internet in addition to a general telephone function.
Specifically, the cyber ticket purchasing system according to the present invention is provided with the personal computer 7 or the mobile communication terminal 1, connected to the Internet, for inputting information on a desired ticket to be purchased such as various kinds of public performance tickets, tickets for passengers, etc., and information on a payment settling means according to the ticket purchase; and the mobile communication terminal 1 or a separate mobile communication terminal 8 for loading in real time an ID/password and so on for approval of the ticket use by an interactive communication with the ticket selling server 4, and displaying the ID/password on a display window thereof.
The cyber ticket purchasing system according to the present invention is also provided with the mobile communication network 2 for receiving an Internet connection request for the ticket purchase and the approval of payment settling from the mobile communication terminal 1 to connect the request to the Internet 3 , and transmitting the received information on whether or not the ticket purchase is possible and whether or not its transaction is approved, which are received from the Internet 3, to the mobile communication terminal 1; and the Internet 3, connected to the personal computer 7 or the mobile communication network 2, for connecting to the desired ticket selling server 4 in accordance with information received directly from the personal computer 7 or received from the mobile communication terminal 1 through the mobile communication network 2, transmitting to the ticket selling server 4 the ticket purchase request and information on the payment settling means received from the computer 7 or the mobile communication terminal 1, and transmitting to the computer 7 or the mobile communication network 2 information on whether or not the ticket purchase is possible and whether or not its transaction that is transmitted from the ticket selling server 4 is approved.
The cyber ticket purchasing system according to the present invention is also provided with the ticket selling server 4, connected to the Internet 3, for receiving information on the ticket purchase request transmitted from the computer 7 or the mobile communication terminal 1, and determines whether the ticket purchase is possible. If the ticket purchase is possible, the ticket selling server 4 receives information on the payment settling means inputted from the mobile communication terminal 1, and transmits information to the inquiry and settlement system 6 to receive information on whether or not the transaction is approved. If the transaction is approved, the ticket selling server 4 transmits a corresponding message, ticket information m the form of the cyber ticket, and ID/password to the computer 7 or the mobile communication terminals 1 and 8 through the Internet 3 and the mobile communication network 2, and also transmits the ticket information m the form of the cyber ticket and the ID/password to the ticket issuer. If the transaction is not approved, the ticket selling server 4 transmits information on the ticket purchase impossibility to the computer 7 or the mobile communication terminal 1.
The cyber ticket purchasing system according to the present invention is also provided with the inquiry and settlement system 6 for receiving and inquiring information on the payment settling means from the ticket selling server 4, and transmitting information on whether or not the transaction is approved to the ticket selling server 4, and the ticket issuer server 5 for transmitting to the ticket selling server 4 information on whether or not the ticket purchase is possible based on a ticket selling status in accordance with the ticket purchase request from the ticket selling server 4.
In the embodiment of the present invention, the ticket issuer server 5 is provided in the cyber ticket purchasing system. However, the ticket issuer server 5 is required only in the event that the ticket purchase request from the ticket selling server 4 exist, and thus it is not required to be employed m case that the ticket selling server 4 itself can confirm whether or not the ticket purchase is possible.
The method of purchasing and using the cyber ticket using the above-described cyber ticket purchasing system is illustrated in FIG. 2.
First, the client connects to the Internet 3 using his/her personal computer 7, or connects to the Internet 3, i.e., the mobile Internet, through the mobile communication network 2 using the mobile communication terminal 1 (step S10) . Then, the client searches and connects to the ticket selling server 4 that sells tickets desired by the client through the Internet 3 connected thereto (step S20) , and inputs and transmits information on the kind of ticket to be purchased by the client, time, seat, etc. (step S30).
In the embodiment of the present invention, the client (i.e., ticket purchaser) inputs information on the desired ticket to the ticket selling server 4. However, the client may input information on the mobile communication terminal 1 to receive the ticket, i.e., the mobile phone number, m addition to the ticket information, and may input information on a third person's mobile communication terminal 8 in the event that the client purchases the ticket and presents it to the third person through the Internet. The ticket selling server 4, which receives the ticket information that the client desires to purchase, connects to the ticket issuer server 5, and inquires whether the ticket purchase is possible. If it is determined that the ticket purchase is possible, the ticket selling server 4 transmits the corresponding information to the computer 7 or to the mobile communication terminal 1 (step S40) . At this time, if the ticket selling server 4 receives from the ticket issuer server 5 a message notifying that the tickets are sold out and the ticket purchase is impossible, it transmits the message to the client, so that the client can input ticket information such as a different date, time, seat, etc., secondarily desired by the client, and confirm whether or not the purchase of the secondarily desired ticket is possible.
In the embodiment of the present invention, the ticket selling server 4 connects to the ticket issuer server 5, and inquires whether or not the ticket purchase is possible. However, it is more preferable that the ticket selling server 4 secures tickets m advance from the ticket issuer, and confirms whether or not the ticket purchase is possible by utilizing a database and so on.
If a message notifying that the ticket purchase is possible and a message requesting the client to input information on the payment settling means are outputted from the ticket selling server 5, the client inputs and transmits information on the payment settling means such as a credit card or electronic money (step S50) . The ticket selling server 4, which receives information on the payment settling means, transmits information received to the inquiry and settlement system 6 (step S60) , confirms whether or not the use of the payment settling means is approved (step S70) , and then settles the ticket charge if the transaction is approved. At this time, if the use of the payment settling means is not approved, the ticket selling server 4 transmits a message notifying that the use of the settling means is impossible to the computer 7 or to the mobile communication terminal 1. In this case, the client may input information for another payment settling means (step S80) to continuously intimate his/her intention to purchase the ticket, or cancel the cyber ticket purchase.
Meanwhile, if the ticket charge is settled by the approval of the use of the payment settling means, the ticket selling server 4 transmits m real time the ticket information m the form of a cyber ticket and the ID/password to the mobile communication terminals 1 and 8 when the request for the use of the ticket is received from the ticket purchaser, and transmits to the ticket issuer the same ticket information and ID/password as those transmitted to the mobile communication terminals 1 and 8 for the ticket examination and the approval of the use (step S90) .
Specifically, as shown in FIG. 3, in the event that the transaction is approved, a message notifying that the reservation and the settlement of the ticket charge have been finally made is transmitted from the ticket selling server 4 to the computer 7 or to the mobile communication terminal 1 (step S91) . The client or the third person, after confirming this, connects his/her mobile communication terminals 1 and 8 to the ticket selling server 4 through the mobile Internet (step S92), passes through the specified log-m process (step S93), loads the ticket implemented m the form of the cyber ticket from the Internet m real time by the interactive communication with the ticket selling server 4, and displays the cyber ticket on the display window of the mobile communication terminals 1 and 8 to use the ticket (step S94) .
Meanwhile, m the embodiment of the present invention, the cyber ticket loaded to the mobile communication terminals 1 and 8 represents all important information indicated m a general ticket such as the date of use, kind of showing/public performance/game/ vehicle/airplane, time, the number of turns, seat, quantity, grade, etc. Since the ticket purchaser can load the cyber ticket m real time to the mobile communication terminals 1 and 8 via interactive communication with the ticket selling server 4, he/she can call the cyber ticket on the display window at any time when he/she desires to confirm information on the corresponding ticket.
Finally, if the owner of the mobile communication terminals 1 and 8 arrives at the place where the ticket is used, and presents the cyber ticket on the mobile communication terminals 1 and 8 to the ticket issuer, i.e., a ticket examiner, the ticket examiner receives m real time the ID/password from the ticket selling server, i.e., calls the ID/password to display the ID/password on the display window of the mobile communication terminals 1 and 8, by pressing a button for controlling the "ticket examination" menu in the cyber ticket which is displayed on the mobile communication terminals 1 and 8. Then, the ticket examiner verifies authenticity of the cyber ticket displayed on the terminal by comparing the displayed ID/password with the ID/password previously received from the ticket selling server 5 (step S100) . That is, according to the embodiment of the present invention, since the authenticity of the ticket can be verified by the naked eye of the ticket examiner, it is not necessary to install m the ticket window a separate device such as a code reader for confirming the authenticity of the reservation. Also, since the ticket implemented m the form of a cyber ticket as described above is not information previously stored m a memory of the mobile communication terminal, but is information obtained m real time from the ticket selling server 4 connected thereto and displayed, this information is immediately transmitted to the ticket selling server 4, passing through the confirmation of the ticket examiner. Meanwhile, mobile communication terminals adopting the standards of IrDA type infrared communications or Bluetooth type remote mobile communications may be used as the mobile communication terminals 1 and 8. In this case, the authenticity of the ticket is verified by the IrDA type infrared communications or the Bluetooth type remote mobile communications, instead of confirmation by the naked eye of the ticket examiner. Specifically, a terminal that can transmit/receive the IrDA type infrared communication signal or the Bluetooth type remote mobile communication signal is installed at the ticket window, the ticket user loads the cyber ticket to his/her own mobile communication terminal through the mobile Internet when he/she passes through the ticket window, and transmits his/her own ID/password to the terminal installed at the window by the infrared communications or the remote mobile communications through the mobile communication terminal, so that the ticket user can enter the public performance place or board the plane after confirmation of the certification signal from a buzzer or lamp separately installed at the window.
Industrial Applicability
As apparent from the above description, according to the present invention, since all the services such as the ticket purchase, settlement of the ticket charge, use of the ticket, etc., can be provided by one personal mobile communication terminal having the function of the Internet, it is not necessary for the ticket purchaser to separately visit the ticket issuing place to receive the ticket after reservation.
Also, according to the present invention, the ticket purchaser can easily purchase the ticket and display the purchased ticket on the mobile communication terminal to use the ticket, without providing a separate memory m the mobile communication terminal. Also, according to the present invention, since t is possible to receive m real time the ticket implemented m the form of a cyber ticket on the Internet by the interactive communication between the ticket purchaser and the ticket selling server, the ticket purchaser can confirm the contents of the ticket at any time before using the ticket.
Also, according to the present invention, since the ticket implemented m the form of a cyber ticket is not information previously stored m the memory of the mobile communication terminal, but information obtained m real time from the ticket selling server connected thereto and displayed, the effective control and management of all information including information on whether or not the corresponding ticket has been used becomes possible by transmitting information to the ticket selling server simultaneously with the confirmation of the ticket examiner .
Also, according to the present invention, reliability in security can be guaranteed by giving the ID/password previously appointed between the ticket selling server and the ticket issuer so that the authenticity of the ticket can be confirmed when using the purchased ticket.
