Abstract

A method for crediting an electronic charge card. The method includes the steps of funding an electronic account at a station; associating the electronic account with an electronic charge card; dispensing the electronic charge card from the station to a user; activating the electronic charge card over a telecommunication network; providing the electronic charge card to at least one vendor for initiating a purchase transaction; and deducting a payment from the electronic account for completing the purchase transaction.
