Description
BOTTLE AND CLOSURE ASSEMBLY FOR MEDICAMENTS AND PHLEBOCLYSIS
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a bottle and related closure element, which have been specifically designed for packaging medicaments and the like.
Prior packages used for packaging medicaments and the like, conventionally comprise a holding body, made of a glass or plastics material, and provided with a pierceable plug (made of an elastomeric material, such as rubber) which is held in a set position by an aluminium collar, which is clamped above a ring element coupled to the bottle neck. Such a prior package, however, has the following drawbacks:
1) while they provide a sealing tightness, they must be opened by performing very complex operations;
2) they comprise a lot of component parts, to open the bottle and remove the materials after use, but do not provide satisfactory sealing characteristics.
On the other hand, it would be desired to have: a. a tight closure of the bottle in order to provide very good hygienic characteristics, and this with respect to the elastomeric material, to be pierced in order to remove the liquid solution held in the bottle; b. to provide an anti-ta pering closure (or capsule),
for easily detecting possible tamperings and the like; c. to provide materials which can be easily disposed of; d. to provide a closure or capsule which can be easily and quickly opened without damages; e. to allow a removal and separation of the materials forming the package after use.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly, the aim of the present invention is to overcome the above mentioned drawbacks of prior medicament packages, by providing a glass or plastics bottle and a closure capsule therefor, of an aluminium or plastics material, suitable for phleboclysis or other medicaments, and allowing: a) to provide a tight sealing of the bottle for holding the elastomeric material under absolutely hygienic conditions, and as perfectly insulated from the outside environment as possible (which can be obtained by an aluminium or plastic capsule, devoid of any pierced regions, but merely providing closed-loop pre-cuts and vertical pre-cuts); b) to provide an anti-tampering package (which result would be obtained by an aluminium or plastic closure which can be removed from the bottle only by tearing vertical pre-cuts, and which allows the elastomeric material to be accessed by exclusively tearing a closed loop pre-cut by an application of a lever action) ; c) to use recoverable materials such as glass, aluminium and plastics materials;
d) to open the top portion of the capsule, in a quick and simple-non dangerous manner, to uncover the top portion of the elastomeric material and allowing the liquid solution to be withdrawn by phleboclysis needles or the like; e) an application on the top portion of the closure of a lever-nail assembly, the nail element of which is made by drawing the closure while pre-cutting the closed line or loop at the top region of said closure; f) a coupling of the bottle (by providing a thread on* the outside of the ring element/neck of the bottle, up to about a half height) and of a closure which is: 1) threaded and rolled upon fitting on the bottle (if the closure is made of an aluminium material; 2) applied to the mouth of the bottle (if the closure is made of a plastics material):
This would allow to unscrew the residual portion of the closure (both of an aluminium and of a plastics material) from the bottle to allow access to the elastomeric material, said bottle and closure easily allowing the component parts to be separated, upon using the package.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent hereinafter from the following detailed disclosure of a bottle, specifically designed for holding medicaments or drugs, which is illustrated, by way of an indicative, but not limitative, example, in the
figures of the accompanying drawings, where:
Figure 1 is a schematic broken-away view illustrating the cap or closure elements before its application to the holding or vessel body; Figure 2 is a top plan view of the cap or closure element;
Figure 3 is a schematic view showing the holding body neck portion;
Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view showing the neck portion of the holding body;
Figure 5 is a partially cross-sectioned view illustrating the cap or closure element clamping the plug, preferably made of an elastomeric material, on the holding body; Figure 6 is a schematic view showing an unscrewing operation for unscrewing the cap element, with a spreading apart of the elements clamping said cap element on the holding body.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
With reference to the number reference of the above mentioned figures, the inventive bottle has been specifically designed for phleboclysis and medicaments or drugs, and comprises a holding or vessel body, generally indicated by the reference number 1, which is closed by a pierceable plug 2, preferably made of an elastomeric material, which is clamped by a cap or closure (capsule) element 3.
The cap or closure element 3 is provided, at a top portion thereof, with a tearable portion 4, coupled to a tearing tab 5.
As shown, the closure element 3 has a skirt
or mantle body 10, which is upturned under the neck 11 of the holding body 1 (if it is made of an aluminium material) or is simply fitted on the neck (if it is made of a plastics material). At the opening of the holding body 1 a male thread 15 is moreover provided, designed for generating a female thread 16 on the mantle 10.
This can be achieved by a centripetal rolling operation if the closure is made of aluminium, or by fitting by screwing the already or female mantle
10 of the closure 3, if the latter is made of a plastics material.
At its bottom portion, the mantle 10 is provided with an upturned edge 19, formed with long notches or cuts 20 and short notches or cuts 21, spaced from one another.
More specifically, a plurality of long cuts and short cuts 21 are circumferentially distributed, and extend starting from the free edge of the cap portion 10.
After having used the contents of the holding or bottle body, the tab 5 is removed, thereby removing the pre-cut disc element, thereby uncovering the elastomeric material allowing the edge portion to be hygienically accessed.
In order to dispose of the used bottle, it will be sufficient to unscrew the residual cap element
3, by spreading apart the regions delimited by the cuts 20 and 21, to allow the cap or closure element 3 to be easily removed.
From the above disclosure it should be apparent that the invention fully achieves the
intended objects.
In particular, a bottle has been provided, allowing to easily and quickly remove, without using specifically designed tools, the cap or closure element holding the pierceable plug element, to allow the residual products to be easily disposed of.
The invention, as disclosed, is susceptible to several modifications and variations, all of which will come within the scope of the invention. Moreover, all the constructional details can be replaced by other technically equivalent elements.
In practicing the invention, the used materials, provided that they are compatible to the intended application, as well as the contingent size and shapes, can be any, depending on requirements.
