Abstract

The invention relates to a method for controlling an internal combustion engine during which at least one operational quantity is controlled. According to the invention, a pilot control firing angle efficiency is formed according to the operational parameters of the internal combustion engine and/or to external interventions, and the pilot control firing angle efficiency determines the set values of the at least one operational quantity. The pilot control firing angle efficiency is varied by means of a transient function during a transition from a first operating state into a second operating state.
