Abstract

A light fixture retrofit system to permit a user to quickly retrofit existing lighting fixtures with a more efficient and cost-effective fixture, without requiring the services of an electrical contractor. In one embodiment, a one-piece retrofit unit is provided that includes a reflector (52), sockets (28) and ballast (22). In another embodiment, a two-piece retrofit unit is provided that includes a reflector piece (52) and a centerpiece (54), having sockets (28) and ballast (22) affixed to the downward direction. The present invention oviates the need for coastly disposal of conventional ballasts by providing a fixture unit that can be placed directly over an existing ballast.
