Abstract

A system for reallocating seats at a venue when ticket holders do not appear. The system (10) identifies a total number of pre-paid tickets (16) issued for an event, determines a number of stand-by tickets (24) from a statistical probability of pre-paid ticket holders (20) failing to arrive for the event, records sale of the stand-by tickets (24) to impromptu purchasers (26) who are directed to a stand-by lounge, records the arrival (30) at the event of each pre-paid ticket holder (20) and repeatedly determines (22) a likelihood of continued non-arrival of remaining pre-paid ticket holders (20) based on a history, if any, of their previous attendance of similar events and at a pre-determined time interval prior to commencement of the event re-allocates at least some of the impromptu purchasers (26) to the space ('seats'), of the non-arrived pre-paid ticket holders (20) who have been determined as least likely to appear while providing a TV relayed version of the event to the remaining impromptu purchasers remaining in the stand-by lounge.
