Definitions
- the present invention as expressed in the title is this specification, refers to a strip of used in the field of telecomuni ⁇ cations, strip that is modular and is mounted on a support "U" structured to mount a plurality of strips, these are provided for interconnection between the corresponding pairs that feed as many subscriber devices and the corresponding connection pairs to a switching equipment provided in the telephone exchange.
- the object of the invention is to provide a strip with characteristics such that it allows to adequately, efficiently and easily perform all the functions required by this type of device.
- the strip is capable of being complemented with an electronic module capable of performing certain tests or measurements automatically.
- the telephone distributors are constituted by a plurality of strips conveniently arranged on a support frame, whose first function is to serve as an interconnection and to give continuity between the pairs corresponding to the clients' devices and a planned switching equipment in the telephone exchange itself, so that a pair of pairs to which these customer devices are connected are connected to the terminal block, while other pairs or lines that terminate in the switching equipment leave the terminals.
- each terminal block in addition to the aforementioned function of joining the subscriber lines or pairs and the switching equipment, to be useful in the installation and maintenance of telephone systems eos, must fulfill another series of functions that can be summarized in the following:
- the strips have the disadvantage that they need a wide range of accessories, some of them very complex because sometimes they must fulfill two functions at the same time, such as protecting and measuring at the same time an unaltered pair the operation of the adjacent ones is not at all.
- the strip of the invention being constituted from a metal "U" support with very particular structural characteristics to enable easy assembly / disassembly and independence from each other of the strips themselves, is mainly characterized by the practical suppression of accessories and the automatic performance of the most frequently used functions, such as the interruption and restitution of the service and the measurement of the line.
- the metallic U-shaped support is affected in its lateral branches of pairs of deep channels between which the strips are properly mounted, counting these for the purpose at their ends with elastic positioning and fixing means thereof. on the pairs of channels of the metal support, specifically in notches or recesses provided for this purpose at the vertical edges of each channel.
- the terminals are constituted by a module or connection socket, a protection module and a series of bipolar plugs, with the particularity that the module or connection socket is provided for the connection of the line pairs, being able to be inverted mounted on the corresponding pair of channels of the metal support, and once the connections of the pairs or lines have been established, invert its position to place said socket correctly on the corresponding pair of channels.
- the protection module or step if the protection is not necessary, will be called from now on a mechanical module and includes a series of slots for the assembly of as many bipolar plugs, which are provided for the connection of the connecting line pairs the strip itself with the switching equipment, said mechanical module being internally provided with a printed circuit associated with a plurality of suitable protection components and along it there is arranged an elastic conductive piece constituting the earth piece, which has a special configuration that makes it possible to perform the following five functions:
- each of the bipolar plugs Provides the two external electrodes of a three-pole arrester, or equivalent component, as a protection element, a direct grounding when there is a thermal overload.
- each of the bipolar plugs it is based on an insulating body with a pair of cavities in which two contacts are positioned, in which on the one hand the connection pair is connected to the switching equipment, and on the other they establish contact with foils provided for this purpose in the corresponding socket for the connection of the line pair, said contacts being provided with an intermediate zone with means that interlock and immobilize the contact in the corresponding cavity of the body of the bipolar plug itself.
- the strip formed by means of the connection socket and the mechanical module referred to is capable of being complemented with an electronic module, which has the appropriate means for interconnection with the mechanical module and with the slots for the connection of the bipolar plugs, and that in this case instead of being inserted in the mechanical module they will be inserted in the electronic module.
- the electronic module has the same means as the mechanical module with the proviso that it will lack the protection components, since these are arranged in the mechanical module, and therefore the elastic piece of earth will lack the pins or connection elements to those protection components.
- the aforementioned electronic module has a side connector through which a bus is formed, consisting of several pairs, which runs through all the electronic modules of the distributor and is connected to a team of commands and tests that are managed by a computer, which allows tests and measurements to be carried out automatically and remotely.
- each electronic module Inside each electronic module is included a relay or analog device capable of occupying three positions, one of normal operation in which continuity is given between the line pair and the pair of equipment; another of sectioning of the line pair, interrupting continuity and connecting the ground wires of the line pair, and a third test, in which normal continuity is interrupted and the line pair is connected to a bus pair, to the so that the team can carry out the necessary measures.
- the bus will preferably include five pairs, two so-called commands so that the test team can conveniently select and activate the appropriate relays, through electronic devices; two others for the connection of the two relays to the test equipment, when the operation is four-wire, and a fifth pair for the power supply of the module itself.
- the strip can be complemented with special card holders, as well as insulating trays of the different connection pairs.
- the elastic means provided at the ends of the modules, for their positioning and fixing between the channels of the metal "U” support in turn constitute a means for the introduction and guidance of the cables, since that these elastic means are constituted by two fins of angular configuration and out of phase, to allow precisely the passage towards the interior of the pairs and their corresponding guidance.

- Figure 18. Shows the scheme corresponding to the operation of the electronic module in its connection, via the bus, to the respective test equipment governed by the computer.
- the strip of the invention is intended to be mounted on a "U" metal support 1, whose lateral branches are affected by deep channels 2 on whose lateral edges recesses 3 are provided with the function which will be exposed later.
- the support 1 also has partition walls 4, which are metallic and determine individual compartments, each provided for the assembly of a strip, providing insulation for them and, in addition, stiffening to the support itself 1.
- each strip It basically consists of a socket 5, a mechanical module 6, and a series of bipolar plugs 7 coupled at the top of the latter, so that the socket 5 constitutes the means of connection of the pairs 8 coming from the clients' devices , while the bipolar plugs 7 constitute the connection means of the pairs 9 that terminate in the corresponding switching equipment of the telephone exchange itself, since the strips what they constitute is an interconnection element between the pairs of the clients and the connection pairs to the switching equipment.
- the socket 5 can be replaced by the appropriate number of bipolar pins 7, these constitute the connection means for the corresponding pairs.
- the strip formed by the socket 5 and the mechanical module 6, with the complement of the bipolar pins 7, can be complemented with an electronic module 11 that is coupled to the mechanical module 6, in which case the bipolar pins 7 will be coupled to that electronic module 11, instead of being coupled to the mechanical module 6, as shown in Figure 2.
- connection of the pairs 8 on the socket 5 can be carried out as shown in the left part of figure 3, that is, with the socket 5 inverted to make the connection of those pairs 8, and once such operation has been carried out correctly arrange the socket 5 and place it, as shown in that figure 3, in the next channel, counted from the left part.
- Each module can be manufactured in a variable number of pairs, usually between six and ten. To avoid confusion during handling, the different Bipolar pins 7 must be clearly marked with a number or be of different colors.
- the bipolar pins 7 are constituted from an external body of an insulating nature, with a handle 12 to facilitate its handling, and whose insulating body of the pin 7 is affected by a pair of cavities 13 intended, each of them, to house a contact 14 formed by three parts, an upper and cylindrical 15 with a groove 16 intended for the connection of a conductive wire of the pair 9, by the usual insulator displacement system known in the electronics industry , whose cylindrical part 15 is followed by another intermediate part 17 with embossments 18 for the immobilization of the contact itself 14 inside the corresponding cavity 13 of the body of the pin 7, including from that part 17 a section with an opening in the longitudinal direction, as a third part, determining a female connector for a male and flat contact 20 provided inside each of the slots 21 with qu e for this purpose the upper part of the mechanical module 6 counts.
- the mechanical module 6 internally has a printed circuit 23 to which a series of suitable protection components are associated in each case, and which are referenced with numbers 24, 25 and 26, the latter being specifically a three-pole arrester Of gas .
- Figure 6 shows a sectional view of the mechanical module 6 on which it is coupled, on the one hand, the zócado 5, and on the other a bipolar plug 7.
- a conductive and elastic grounding part is also included, generally referenced with the number 27 and clearly represented in Figure 7, whose piece is located between the two ends of the mechanical module 7, and internally thereto, and provided with those ends of pins 28 that provide the grounding of the printed circuit 23, when installation is necessary.
- the elastic piece of earth 27 has an extreme extension 29 finished off in an arcuate sector 30 to provide the ground connection on one of the depressions 22 corresponding to the bipolar pin 7.
- the elastic piece of earth 27 also has lateral extensions 31 to provide the ground connection of the line and equipment pairs, also including a side arm 32 topped at an arched end 33 whereby mechanical stability is established in the three positions where the bipolar plug 7 can be inserted in the respective slot 21 of the mechanical module 6, when that arched end 33 of the side arm 32 is placed in one or the other of the depressions 22 of the bipolar pin 7 itself.
- the elastic piece of earth 27 also has side arms 34 opposite the arm 32, finished off at an angled end 35 that presses against a flux sheet 36 in contact with the two external and active electrodes of the arrester t ripolar 26, establishing a direct ground path when the melter sheet 36 is perforated by thermal overload of the arrester, establishing direct contact of the angled ends 35 of the lateral arms 34 of the earth piece 27, as shown in Figure 8
- the connection to the pair of lines is established by contacts 14-20, while the connection between the pair of equipment is established by contacts 14 '-20', the contact 14 'being formed by sections 15' -19 ' of contact, associated to the corresponding connection socket 5 for the pairs of equipment 9, as clearly shown in Figure 6.
- the bipolar plug 7 passes to its outermost position, corresponding to that of figure 12, so that the contact 19 stops making contact with the sheet 20, the line being only grounded supply to the device, through contact 14 '.
- the section of the mechanical module 6 can be observed when it does not include protections, in which case the electrical continuity between the line pairs and the pairs of the switching equipment is carried out by means of a bridge piece or conductive plate 37 between the contacts 14 and 14 'of the bipolar plug 7 and of the connection socket 5.
- the bridge plates 37 may be provided with suitable means for the connection of the pins corresponding to the electrodes of a three-pole arrester with their respective grounding, thus allowing to place a protection (three-pole arrester) between two adjacent and parallel plates 37.
- Figure 14 shows precisely a representation similar to that of Figure 6 but showing in line of strokes the grounding end pins 28 of the printed circuit 23, as well as the lateral extension 29 with its arched end 30 establishing the connection to the bipolar plug 7 for grounding.
- the electronic module 11 that can complement the strip described above, it is intended to be coupled on the protection module 6, as shown in explosion in Figure 2, in which case and as previously mentioned the bipolar plugs 7 instead of being connected in the slots 21 of that mechanical module 6, they will be connected in analogous slots 21 'of the commented electronic module 11.
- the general constitution of this electronic module 11 is analogous to that of the mechanical module 6, the part being identical of connection of the pair of equipment, that is to say the bipolar plug 7 and the contacts associated to it, providing also of a printed circuit, in this case referenced with 38, with components 39 necessary for the operation of the module, including a type of connection 5 "to the mechanical module 6.
- the contact 14" is formed by a tubular portion 19 "with a groove 16 "in the direction of one of the generatrices, whose portion 19" is extended in a flat extension with embossments 55, through which it is locked in the lower part of coupling to the mechanical module 6, with the particularity that this extension it is orthogonally layered and extended on a pin 20 "connecting to the printed circuit 38.
- the elastic piece of grounding will lack the lateral extensions 31 and arms 34, however including the side arm 32 with its arched end 33 for positioning and stabilization in the different positions on the corresponding depressions 22, as shown in Figure 15 which corresponds exactly the same as it had been represented in Figures 6, 11 and 12. In the event that the printed circuit does not need a grounding, said elastic piece of grounding could be suppressed.
- the electronic modules 11, as schematically represented in Figure 17, are located in the different verticals of the support, two of which have been represented, and where it can be verified how all the modules 11 are connected to each other by means of a cable of several pairs, five usually, and whose cable constitutes a bus 40 that after passing through all the electronic modules 11 is connected to a command and test equipment 41 that are operated by a computer 42 with its corresponding keyboard.
- Said parallel bus 40 enters and it exits in each module 11 through a connector 43 located on one of the sides of the module 11 itself, counting this, like the modules 5 and 6 already described on the strip, with the elastic pins 10 interlocking on the channels 2 of metal support "U" 1.
- each line pair is connected to a relay or analog device that can take three positions and that correspond to references 44, 45 and 46, considering in each case reference 47 as line pair and reference 48 as equipment pair.
- the position corresponding to the relay 44 corresponds to that of normal operation, in which there is continuity between the line pair 47 and the equipment pair 48.
- the dispenser can be complemented with a conventional or special cardholder 53, as shown, for example in Figures 6, 11 and others, and also be able to include a tray 54 to prevent the wires of the adjacent strips from mixing.
- the mechanical module and the electronic module can form a monobloc body inside a suitable, properly connected housing, thereby avoiding having to use the corresponding connector between them,
