- a shaft for transmitting torque is known, which is designed as a telescopic steering shaft for motor vehicles. It has an outer, tubular shaft part and an inner, also tubular shaft part, between which balls are arranged as load-bearing rolling elements of ball revolutions. These supporting balls are supported directly on the shaft parts in grooves, so that both shaft parts must be designed as hardened steel parts. Longitudinal grooves are required for the raceways of the supporting balls both in the inner shaft part and in the outer shaft part. The construction is chosen so that corresponding bulges of the shaft parts have arisen in the areas of the grooves. This results in a high cost of materials and manufacturing.
