Definitions

  • the invention relates to a radio telephone handheld device with a housing for transmitting / receiving part, control logic, battery, etc., which has an input field, optionally a display unit, a microphone, an earphone, etc., in which an antenna is movably connected to the housing, and the housing has at least one folding / sliding part, which is opened or pushed open when the device is in operation, but is otherwise folded in or pushed in when the overall dimensions are reduced.
  • Antennas of mobile radio handheld devices are usually arranged at the top right of the handheld device, either extendable to their full length or designed as an electrically shortened short antenna and often unscrewable. Under poor reception conditions, the antenna length should have its optimal size, that is, according to the frequency and adapted to the input circuit. The user often does not pay attention to pulling out the antenna so that he is then unreachable. Furthermore, discussions about a possible health hazard due to the radiation of the RF energy in the transmission mode in the immediate vicinity of the brain / eyes are still ongoing.
  • An object of the invention is to solve the technical problems arising from increasing miniaturization, such as e.g. B. to eliminate or reduce those described above.
  • the task is, based on a radio telephone handset of the type mentioned, achieved according to the invention in that the antenna is integrated in the folding / sliding part.
  • the invention enables a number of advantages to be achieved in a simple manner. In most cases, for example, better transmission of the transmission power is possible, the brain and eyes are no longer in the direct radiation range of the antenna and pulling out the antenna is no longer necessary or this or an equivalent action (opening) is carried out automatically when the device is started up. Furthermore, the antenna as such is no longer visible at all.
  • Fig.l in a simplified diagrammatic representation of a radio telephone handset according to the invention with a foldable rod which carries the microphone and in which the antenna is integrated,

  • a mobile radio handset has a housing 2 in a conventional manner, which encloses the transmitting and receiving part, the control logic, the battery, etc. Furthermore, an input field 3 is provided, generally the usual keyboard for dialing and entering commands, in most cases a display unit 4 and an earphone 5 or loudspeaker.

If the device shown is held in the left hand, the maximum possible distance between the antenna 9 and the head of the user results. In a right-hand version, the rod 7 with the microphone 8 and antenna 9 should be articulated on the right-hand side of the device when viewed from the front.
  • the rod 7 can be pivoted back about the axis 6 so that it rests on the side wall of the housing 2. In order to better protect the rod 7, it could be in the inoperative position in one narrow compartment of the housing, if the housing is expanded accordingly.
  • FIG. 2 shows a rod 7 slidably mounted in a receptacle 10 of the housing 2, which in principle corresponds to the rod described in FIG. 1 - with microphone 8 and antenna 9 - which is why the same reference numerals are used.
  • the rod 7 can be pushed completely against the force of a spring 11 into the receptacle 10 of the housing 2 and can be held in this inoperative position by a catch, which consists, for example, of a groove 12 in the rod 7 and a locking pawl 13 engaging in this groove.
  • This pawl can be loaded with a small spring 14 and lifted by a release button 15 on the input field 3 via a mechanical connection 16 shown in broken lines, so that the rod 7 then extends automatically.
  • the hand-held device 1 has a flat cover part 17 which can be pivoted or pivoted about a pivot axis 18 such that the entire front face of the housing 2 is covered in an inoperative position (not shown), whereas in the operating position shown, the cover part 17 represents an extension of the housing 2, in the lower area of which the microphone 8 is seated.
  • the antenna 9 shown in broken lines can be a metal strip, for example. If necessary, a second antenna 9a can also be integrated in the cover part 17 in order to improve the reception performance. • the cover part 17 can be designed exactly like that after 3, wherein the cover part 17a has a purely covering function.
  • the antenna 9 (dashed lines) can be integrated in the cover part.
  • the (upper) cover part 17a could also contain only one antenna or be designed as such, namely as a surface antenna.
  • the advantage of a large distance between the antenna and the head of the user which is mentioned in the other embodiments, does not exist, which is not important in cases with low transmission power, for example in DECT devices.
  • the cover part for the housing is designed as a sliding cover 19.
  • This can be in guides not shown here, e.g. be guided in longitudinal grooves, laterally or on the front of the housing 2, namely from an inoperative position covering the entire front (or a part thereof) into an operating position in which the distance between a microphone 8 and the earphone 5 is sufficiently large.
  • the antenna 9 is integrated in the sliding cover, for example in one of two side cheeks 19a, since this provides a good possibility of contacting the antenna.
  • the invention can be applied to all mobile radio handheld devices, for example to those operating in the GSM or DECT system, but in principle to walkie-talkies which operate in a frequency range which enables antenna dimensions in the sense of the invention.
