Abstract

An ink jet printer with a plastic body (12) incorporates as a unitary molded structure a platen (16), a Y-arm (60), and a paper drive roller mounting bay (24). Additional component mounts such as paper roll mounts (64, 66) and motor mounts (40, 44) may also be provided as part of the unitary molded structure. In some embodiments, many essential printer components are press or snap fit, thereby reducing assembly cost.
