Definitions
- the present invention relates to a frame device for a ventilation filter and a method for the mounting of a ventilation filter in such a frame device, wherein the frame device comprises at least a frame element, comprising a recess extending in the longitudinal direction of the frame element, which recess has an elongated opening and is arranged to receive an edge portion of the ventilation filter, and wherein the frame device comprises an elongated locking element, which is of an essentially rigid material and is arranged to be inserted into said recess for locking the edge portion of the ventilation filter in the recess.
- Such frame devices for ventilation filters and methods for the mounting of the ventilation filters are previously known, where the frame device is arranged to stabilise the ventilation filter and to secure its fastening in a ventilation duct.
- the task of the ventilation filter is to clean the air streaming in the duct from contaminating particles.
- ventilation filters comprise bags arranged in parallel and sewed together, wherein grate elements are inserted between the bags in order to stabilise these mutually, whereafter staples are provided in the ventilation filter in order to hold the grate elements in place. Thereafter, the ventilation filter is mounted in the frame device, which has an external shape corresponding to the ventilation duct.
- such a frame device comprises a plurality of included components, which often are produced of different materials so that during a possible re-using of the frame device, the included components must be separated.
- the mounting of such a frame device to ventilation filter is also relatively complicated and thus requires a lot of time.
- SE 373 294 B a fastening of an edge of a filter in an essentially U-shaped rail of a sheet is shown. The edge is placed in the U-shaped rail, whereafter a resilient sealing strip is pressed into the U-shaped rail so that the edge is retained therein.
- the object of this filter fastening is mainly to obtain a tight mounting. In the case, the edge of the filter is exposed to a pull load it may loose rather simply. Furthermore, it may be a certain work to press down said resilient sealing strip during the mounting of the filter over the whole extension of the U-shaped rail.
- a fastening of a filter in a frame cassette which has an opening directed outwardly.
- the filter comprises at its edges collars, which are sewn so that they form elongated sleeves.
- elongated locking elements are inserted in the sleeves in the longitudinal direction.
- the elongated locking elements comprise a cross-section width, which is greater than the width of the opening so that the filter thereby is retained in the frame cassette.
- the disadvantage of such an insertion is that a collar must be sewn to the filter, which thereby is expensive to produce.
- the mounting is not completely free from problems since it requires space during the insertion of the elongated locking elements into the sleeves.
- a frame with a ventilation filter is shown.
- the ventilation filter comprises a bead sewed along its edge portion and the frame comprises two metal profiles, which are arranged to be pressed together from a respective direction around said bead.
- This fastening of the ventilation filter becomes relatively unstable and requires that grate elements be fastened between the included bags of the ventilation filter.
- Such a ventilation filter is also expensive to manufacture by the fact that said bead must be sewn around the edge of the filter.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a frame device for the mounting of a ventilation filter of the kind initially mentioned which comprises only a few included components.
- a frame device becomes cheap to produce.
- the possibility to produce the frame device in a way adapted to the environment is facilitated, i. e. one will se- lect such materials of the included components that the used frame devices does not need to go through a material separation before re-using or burning.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a method for the mounting of the frame device initially mentioned, which mounting is very simple so that a short assembly time is obtained.
- the frame device initially defined, which is characterised in that the elongated element has such a cross-section profile that it is inserti- ble through the opening into said recess transversely to its longitudinal extension and that it in an inserted position in the recess is arranged to lock said edge portion.
- the ventilation filter obtains such a stable fastening in the frame element that a ventilation filter which comprises a plurality of filter bags does not need said stabilising grating elements which are attached by staples. Therefore, the frame device comprises by this embodiment only the frame element and the elongated locking element. Consequently, the method for fastening the edge of the ventilation filter in the recess becomes very simple since it essentially implies that the elongated locking element is inserted transversely to its longitudinal extension through the opening into said recess, where it locks the edge portion.
- the elon- gated element has such a cross-section profile that it at least in a first turning position is insertable through the opening into said recess transversely to its longitudinal extension and that it by be turned to a second turning position is arranged to lock said edge portion in the recess, wherein the locking in this second position e.g. may be obtained by any type of eccentric locking.
- the mounting of the ventilation filter in the recess becomes simple and may be done in a short time.
- the elongated element in said second turning position by a pull load of the ventilation filter is arranged to be influenced in such a manner that it provides, in relation to the pull load, an increas- ing locking force on said edge portion of the ventilation filter.
- the ventilation filter obtains a safe fastening in the recess of the frame element also by a heavy pull load, which will arise during heavy air streams through the ventilation filter.
- the width of the opening is smaller than the width of the recess in the frame element.
- a narrower opening may be provided by a flange or step, which forms a natural stop surface in the recess which towards the elongated locking element will work in order to obtain said locking of the edge portion of the ventilation filter.
- the elongated locking element comprises an essentially elongated cross-section profile, where the thinner portion of the locking element is thinner than the width of the opening and its longer portion is at least as long as the width of the recess.
- the elongated locking element may be kept in a first turning position since the thinner portion of the locking element essentially extends perpendicular to the direction of the insertion into the opening.
- the elongated locking element When the elongated locking element is inserted wholly in the recess, it is turned to the second locking turning position.
- the locking element may not be displaced out of the recess, partly by the reason that the width of the opening is smaller than the width of the recess and partly by the fact that said pull loading tends to turn the locking element in such a direction that it increases the locking force whereby the locking element presses the edge portion of the ventilation filter towards the delimiting surfaces of the recess.
- the longer portion of the locking element is at least as long as the width of the recess.
- the elongated locking element discloses, in its most simple embodiment, an essentially rectangular cross-section profile. Such an elongated locking element may be produced to a very low cost.
- the frame device has a rectangular shape and comprises four elongated elements, which each is connected to an adjacent frame element in the corners of the frame device by means of connecting members.
- a frame element is simple to mount and forms at the same time a stable frame unit.
- the connecting member may be composed of a suitably shaped plug element, which is insertible into a corresponding shaped recess in the re- spective frame element.
- said connecting members are formed of a combustible material as the frame elements and the locking elements.
- the openings of the respective frame element may be directed in- wards towards the centre of the frame device and it is preferably if they extend essentially along the whole length of the frame elements so that a continuous opening is formed, which extends around the whole frame device.
- the included components of the frame device i.e. frame elements, elongated locking elements and possibly connecting members are produced in a combustible material.
- a used frame device to ventilation filter is burned as a unit but that individual parts, consisting of e.g. metal, must be separated.
- the frame device will consist of a plastic material but said material is preferably a wood material, which in the view of the environment is most suitable since wood is a renewable energy source and which by burning does not result in an increasing proportion of the carbon dioxide in the air.

- Fig 5 shows a perspective view of an edge portion with two connected frame elements
- F Fiigg 6 6 shows a side view of an alternative frame element.
- Fig 1 shows a frame device with a ventilation filter to which the present invention is applicable.
- the frame device 1 has a rec- tangular shape and comprises four elongated frame elements 3a-d, which each is connected to an adjacent frame element 3a- d in the corners of the frame device.
- the external rectangular shape of the frame device 1 is arranged to correspond to an in- ternal delimiting surface of a ventilation duct, in which the ventilation filter will be arranged.
- the ventilation filter 2 comprises several bags 2a-d, which are sewn together. Possibly the ventilation bags 2a-d may be stabilised in order to be kept in a desired position, which may be done by means of transverse threads right through the filter bags 2a-d.
- the edge portions 4 of the ventilation filter 2 are placed over the openings 5 provided in the frame elements 3a-d.
- the openings 5 of the frame elements 3a-d are directed inwards towards the centre of the frame device and extend essentially along the whole length of the frame elements 3a-d so that a continuous opening 5 is formed which extends around the whole frame device 1 .
- An elongated locking element 6 belongs to each of the frame elements 3a-d, which has a length essentially corresponding to the length of the opening 5 of the frame element 3a-d.
- Figs 2A, B show an elongated locking element 6 which has an essentially elongated, rectangular cross-section profile.
- the locking element 6 has a thinner portion, which is thinner than the width of the opening 5.
- the elongated locking element 6 may be inserted via the opening 5 into a recess 7 provided in the frame element 3.
- the edge portion 4 placed over the opening 5 therethrough.
- the edge portion 4 may, in advance, be partly pressed into the opening 5 in order to facilitate the insertion of the elongated locking element 6.
- the edge portion 4 forms an essentially U-shape side profile during the insertion in the re- o
- the edge portion 4 of the ventilation filter 2 is pressed completely downwards in the recess 7 towards its bottom in the frame element 3. Thereafter, the elongated element 6 is turned to a second turning position in the recess 7 where it is arranged to lock said edge portion 4 in the recess 7, seen in Fig 2B. Because the opening 5 has a smaller width than the recess 7, the upper end of the locking element 6 will be positioned under a locking wall 8 during said turning movement. If the edge portion 4 now is subjected to a pull load, this pull load endeavours in the first place to displace the elongated locking element 6 upwards, which is prevented by the delimiting wall 8.
- the pull load in the edge portion 4 endeavours to turn the elongated locking element 6 anti-clockwise around its contact point to the delimiting wall 8. Because the longer portion of the elongated locking element at least is as long as the width of the recess 7, this turning movement will not be finished but result in the upper and lower end portions of the elongated locking element 6 being pressed, by an increasing locking force proportional to the pull load, via the edge portion 4, towards the delimiting walls of the recess 7.
- the delimiting walls of the recess 7 have in the figures an essentially rectangular shape.
- the edge portion 4 In order to obtain a completely safe locking of the edge portion 4 in the recess 7, the edge portion 4 ought to be placed at such a distance above the opening 5 that it in the second turning position of the elongated locking element 6 extends around the both end portions of the locking element 6. Thereby the edge portion 4 may be locked at two locations. During a rather inexact mounting it may happen that the edge portion 4 only will extend around the lower end portion of the elongated locking element 6, which in the most cases still result in a satisfactory locking of the edge portion 4 in the recess 7.
- Fig 3 shows a frame element 3 having a construction according to the embodiment in Fig 2 but with the difference that the locking element 6' in this case has an essentially wedge-shaped cross-section profile.
- the locking element 6' By this embodiment of the locking element 6', a lower pointed locking portion 6a of the edge portion 4 of the ventilation filter 2 is obtained, wherein the risk that the edge portion 4 will slide around the lower part of the locking element 6' by a pull load in the edge portion 4 is eliminated completely.
- the upper portion of the locking element 6' comprises a surface 6b which is in parallel with the locking wall 8, the elongated locking element 6' will be kept steadily in said second turning position.
- Fig 4 shows another embodiment of a locking element 6" having an upper surface 6b which is in parallel with the delimiting wall 8 and partly a lower surface 6c which is in parallel with the bottom of the recess 7. By these two surfaces in parallel, the locking element 6" may be kept very steadily in the second locking turning position. Furthermore, this locking element 6" has at the bottom a pointed portion 6a which effectively prevents that the edge portion 4 of the ventilation filter 2 slides around the locking element 6".
- Fig 5 shows a corner portion of the frame device 1 .
- This corner portion consists of two frame elements 3a, b which are connected to each other by means of a connecting member 9 which in this case consists of a plug shaped element which is fastened in correspondingly shaped cavities in the frame elements 3a, b.
- Fig 6 shows an alternative embodiment of a frame element 3.
- the recess 7 of the frame element 3 comprises a delimiting wall 10 sloping downwards from an upper edge, located under the locking wall 8, to a lower edge.
- the locking element 6 with the edge portion 4 of the filter is brought downwards into the recess 7 and obtains contact to the delimiting wall 10, the lower portions of the locking element 6 and the edge portion 4 slides downwards along the delimiting wall 10 to the lower edge.
- the upper portion of the locking element 6 is turned in a direction towards the upper edge, which is located under the locking wall 8.
- the locking element 6 is turned to the second turning position where it locks the edge 1 0
- the frame device 1 is firstly constructed by connecting the four elongated frame elements 3a-d at the corners of the frame device 1 by means of connecting members 9.
- the edge portion 4 of the ventilation filter 2 has a corresponding rectangular shape as the frame device 1 , wherein the edge por- tions 4 of the ventilation filter 2 are provided over the openings 5 of the frame device 1 , which lead to the recesses 7 provided inside the frame elements 3a-d.
- the openings 5 are directed inwards towards the centre of the frame device 1 and extend essentially along the whole length of the frame elements 3a-d so that a continuous opening 5 is formed which extends around the whole frame device 1 .
- the edge portions 4 of the ventilation filter 2 provided over said openings 5 may in advance, but not necessarily be pressed partly into the openings 5 of the frame elements 3a-d. Thereafter, the elongated frame elements 6 are taken and are held in a first turning position whereupon they in turn are pressed through the openings 5 into the recesses 7 of the frame elements 3a-d, where the locking elements 6 are turned to a second turning position and lock the edge portions 4 of the ventilation filter 2 in the recesses 7. Thereby, the ventila- tion filter 2 is stably mounted in the frame device 1 . Thereafter, the frame device 1 with the ventilation filter 2 is arranged in a ventilation duct having an internal shape corresponding to the external shape of the frame device 1 , so that the ventilation filter
- the frame device 1 comprises such a few included components, namely frame elements
- the elongated locking elements 6 may have other cross-section profiles than those described in the figures.
- the elongated element 6, when manufactured in a plastic material, may have a great number of varying cross-section shapes which enable locking during the insertion into a recess 7, e.g. the elongated locking element may comprise a V-shaped cross-section area.
- the delimiting surfaces of the recess 7 may comprise another shape than the essentially rectangular shown in the drawings, in order to obtain the desired locking effect.
