Abstract

A spray nozzle (500) having a grip (502), a nose (504) having a spray end (506), a valve housing (550) defining a closed end, an inlet port (552) and an outlet port (568) and a valve (588) mounted within the housing (550). The valve (588) has a flow portion (590), a first seal (594) on one side of the flow portion (590) and a second seal (598) on another side of the flow portion (590). The valve (588) has a first position wherein the valve (588) prevents the flow of fluid between the inlet port (552) and the outlet port (568) and a second position wherein the valve (588) permits the flow of fluid between the inlet port (552) and the outlet port (568). The first seal (594) and the second seal (598) are positioned to one side of the inlet port (552) in the first position and the first seal (594) and the second seal (598) are positioned on opposite sides of the inlet port (552) and the outlet port (568) in the second position.

Claims

1. A spray nozzle (500), compπsing: a grip (502); a nose (504) having a spray end (506); a valve housing (610) mounted within one of said gπp (502) and said nose (504), said vafve housing (610) including a wall (634) defining a chamber (636) having an open end and defining a closed end (640), said wall (634) defining an inlet port (618) and an oufJet port (628), a vafve movably mounted wrthln said chamber (636) of said housing (610), said housing (610) having a flow portion (646), a first seal on one side of said flow portion (646) and a second seal on another side of said flow portion (646), said vafve having a first position wherein said valve prevents the flow of fluid between said inlet port (618) and said outlet port
(628) and a second position wherein said valve permits the flow of fluid between said inlet port
(618) and said outlet port (626) along a channel at least partially defined by said flow portion
(646), said first seal and second seal being positioned to one side of said inlet (6 8) in said first position and εaid first seal and said second seal positioned on opposite sides of said inlet and said outlet (628) in said second position, wherein in said first position, said second seal is positioned above said inlet (618) preventing the flow of fluid through said channel and, in said second position, said inlet straddles said second seal so that said second βeal permits the flow of fluid from said closed end (640) of said chamber (636) around said second seal, through said channel and through said outlet port (628).
2. The nozzle of Claim 1, wherein said nozzle valve comprises a one piece shaft member and no more than two o-πngs.
3. The nozzle of Claim 1 , wherein said nozzle valve compπses a one piece member.
4. The nozzle of Claim 1 , wherein said nozzle vafve and said actuator are integrally formed.

The nozzle of Claim 1 , wherein in said first position, said second seal is positioned above said inlet preventing the flow a fluid to said flow portion, and in said second position, said inlet straddles said second seal so that said second seal permits the flow of fluid from said closed end through said Inlet port and through said inlet port to said outlet port 6. A pump attachment for a container defining a neck, comprising: a body defining an elongate chamber having a first end, a second end and an interior waV extending between said first end and said second end; a coupler sized and shaped to secure said body to a neck of a container; a shaft extending through an opening in said first end of said chamber, said shaft defining an internal flow channel; a one-piece piston reciprocally mounted within said chamber, said piston defining an inner annular surface surrounding said shaft and an upper outer annular surface sized and shaped to form a sealing engagement with said interior wall of said body and a lower outer annular surface sized and shaped to form a sealing engagement with said interior well of said body, said piston separating said chamber into an upper portion above said piston and a lower portion below said piston; 23 an inlet valve at said second end of said body, configured to permit the flow of fluid into said chamber and restrict the flow of fluid out of said chamber; and a biasing member between said piston and said first end of said chamber, wherein said attachment further defines a first sealing surface substantially fixed with respect to said piston and a second sealing
