Abstract
Description
VORRICHTUNG ZUM BESTAUBEN BEWEGTER GEGENSTANDE, INSBESONDERE BEDRUCKTER PAPIERBÖGEN DEVICE FOR DUSTING MOVING ITEMS, IN PARTICULAR PRINTED PAPER SHEETS
The invention relates to a device for dusting moving objects, in particular printed paper sheets, according to the preamble of claim 1.
Such devices for dusting are used in stacking devices for the printed paper sheets in a sheet-fed offset printing machine. The problem arises that the very fine-grained powder, which is applied to the paper sheets with an air stream, is only deposited to a small extent on the paper sheet. Due to the very high transport speeds of the paper sheets - approx. 15,000 sheets per hour - strong air turbulence occurs, so that a large part of the powder does not reach the paper sheet, but instead contributes to contamination of the printing machine and the ambient air.
To improve the efficiency of the pollination, it was proposed according to DE-OS 26 46 798 to charge the powder particles and to apply them to the paper sheet in a loaded state. Although this results in improved adhesion of the powder particles on the paper sheet, this known device has the disadvantage that the charged powder not only adheres better to the paper sheets, but also adheres more strongly to all objects, in particular metallic neutral ones, in particular the transport means for the paper sheets . The means of transport, which are usually grippers, are loaded with a thick layer of powder after a short time.
From DE-OS 29 36 754 a device is known with the powder to be deposited on the paper sheet is discharged essentially electrically neutral from nozzles and is charged by a corona discharge before hitting the paper sheet. It has been found that the powder particles are only insufficiently charged and contamination of the printing press and the transport means for the paper sheets is not yet sufficiently reduced, since the charged powder particles continue to adhere firmly to the transport means and machine parts which are at mass potential. With this device, too, these electrically neutral metal parts are coated with a thick layer of charged powder particles in the course of the operating time.
Based on this knowledge, a device has been proposed (DE-OS 33 30 665), in which the powder passes through an alternating electric field when it emerges from the nozzle, and the powder particles are thus electrically neutralized. Although the electrostatic sticking of powder on metallic machine parts is avoided, the original problems arise that the very fine-grained powder pollutes large areas of the printing press and the environment due to the air turbulence. Only a small part of the powder can be deposited on the paper sheets.
Starting from this prior art, it is an object of the invention to provide an improved device for dusting moving objects, with which the powder can be effectively deposited on the objects and which ensures that less contamination occurs.
This object is achieved by a device with the features of claim 1. In a known manner, the device according to the invention has means for electrically charging the powder particles with a specific polarity. If the means for transporting the objects, such as printed sheets of paper, carry electrical charges with the same polarity as the powder particles, they are electrostatically repelled by the means of transport and do not adhere to them. As a result, the transport means remain free of dirt, even though they are immediately adjacent to the powder during dusting.
Due to the electrical charge of the powder particles, they stick better to the paper sheet and can be better separated from the air by means of electrostatic forces and placed on the paper sheet. Overall, a more effective pollination of the paper sheets can thus be achieved, while at the same time the contamination of the machine by powder not deposited on the paper sheets is reduced.
The means of transport are usually made of metal and are insulated so that they can be connected to an electrical potential via an electrical connection. Advantageously, however, the means of transport are covered with an insulating layer made of a material with a high specific resistance and good charging properties. Then the means of transport itself do not have to be connected to an electrical potential, but the insulating layer holds the charges once applied.
For this purpose, a charging device is provided according to claim 4, which is arranged against the transport direction at a distance from the nozzle. Then through that Charger does not interfere with the electric field for charging the powder particles, so that constant conditions prevail.
Geeignete Kunststoffe für die isolierende Schicht sind Polyäthylen, Polypropylen, Polyester oder Fluorkohlenwasserstoffe .Suitable plastics for the insulating layer are polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester or fluorocarbons.
Advantageously, not only the transport means, but also a spray rod having the spray nozzle carry charges with the same polarity as that of the powder. Then no powder can be deposited on the spray bar.
If the spray nozzle according to claim 8 is housed in a housing, the powder is mainly limited to the inside of the housing and the rest of the machine can not get dirty. The housing walls are advantageously charged at least on the inside, so that no powder adheres to the walls. The housing advantageously acts like a Faraday cage.
If the paper sheets are guided over a sheet baffle according to claim 9, which is charged electrically neutral or with opposite polarity to the powder particles, an electric field is built up above the sheet baffle so that a force is exerted on the loaded powder particles in the direction of the paper sheet. This results in an improved separation of the powder particles from the air.
The device according to the invention is used in a stacking device for printed paper sheets of a sheetfed offset printing machine according to claim 9. Advantageously, the machine parts of the stacking device adjacent to the pollination device should prove also carry appropriate loads so that no powder can accumulate.
In der Zeichnung zeigen:The invention is explained in detail below using an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawing. The drawing shows:
Figur 1 eine schematische Darstellung ei-ner erfindungsgemäßen Vorrichtung,FIG. 1 shows a schematic illustration of a device according to the invention,
Figur 2 eine weitere Ausführungsform der Vorrichtung,FIG. 2 shows a further embodiment of the device,
Figur 3 eine dritte Ausführungsform.Figure 3 shows a third embodiment.
A device 10 according to the invention for dusting moving objects has at least one spray nozzle 12, with which a powder-air mixture 14 can be sprayed onto a paper sheet 16 printed, for example, in a sheet-fed offset printing press. If a plurality of spray nozzles 12 are provided, these are attached to a spray rod 18 which extends transversely to a transport direction 20 at least across the width of the paper sheet 16.
Transport means 22 pull the paper sheet 16 in the transport direction 20. The transport means 22 comprise grippers 24, which grip the paper sheet 16 on its front edge.
The spray nozzle 12 has at least one needle electrode 26 with, for example, negative polarity and a counter electrode 28, for example at ground potential, between which there is an electric field represented by field lines 30. A corona discharge can burn between the electrodes 26 and 28, so that the Discharge of powder particles flying through can be charged electrically, for example negatively. Such a spray nozzle is described in DE-OS 33 30 665 in detail.
The gripper 24 is also electrically charged with the same polarity as the powder particles - electrically negative in the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 1.
The paper sheet 16 is guided over a sheet guide plate 32 which is electrically neutral in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1.
Thus, the powder particles are guided on the one hand by the air and on the other hand due to the electrical forces of an electrical field formed between the gripper 24 and the sheet guide plate 32 and represented by lines 34 on the paper sheet 16.
In a first embodiment, the transport means 24 consist of an electrically conductive material, such as metal, and are mounted in an insulating manner in the printing press, so that they can be placed on an electrical potential — electrically negative in FIG. 1 — via an electrical connection.
In a further preferred embodiment according to FIG. 2, the gripper 24 is electrically neutral and has on its surface an insulating layer 36 made of a material with a high specific resistance and good charging properties.
Contrary to the transport direction 20 in front of the spray nozzle, a charging device 38 is arranged at a distance a, by means of which the insulating layer 36 of the gripper 24 moved in the transport direction 20 can be charged via an electrode 40. The insulating layer is preferably made of a plastic, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester or fluorocarbons. FIG. 2 shows the charging of the insulating layer 36 with the same charge as that of the charged powder particles - in this case, therefore, negative. In this embodiment, the sheet guide plate 32 is at a positive potential.
In a further preferred embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 3, the spray nozzle 12 is accommodated together with the spray rod 18 in a housing 42. The housing walls 44, 46 and 48 are electrically charged at least on the inside with the same polarity as the powder, for example negative. Under the housing 42, which is open at the bottom, the gripper 24 (not shown in FIG. 3) can be carried out together with the paper sheet 16 and over the sheet guide plate 32.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 3, the sheet guide plate is positively charged, so that between the housing 42 and the sheet guide plate 32 the field shown with field lines 50 is built up, which exerts a force on the powder particles negatively charged in this example in the direction of the paper sheet.
Although the sheet guide plate 32 in the illustrated exemplary embodiments is either electrically neutral or charged with the opposite polarity to the powder, no powder will be deposited on the sheet guide plate 32, since the spray nozzle 12 operates in a pulsed manner and the powder-air mixture only releases when a paper sheet 16 is in the Spray area.
