Abstract
Description
The present invention, as expressed in the statement of this specification, refers to a new closure applicable to carabiners, conceived in such a way that the effectiveness of the anchoring of the two parts constituting a carabiner is improved, while also increasing the resistance of this one.
The closure is based on the fact that the free end of the carabiner ring on which an articulated rod at the other end of the ring precisely closes, has lateral recesses from which rounded projections protrude, which are complementary to a recessed and corresponding concave recesses provided at the free end of the closing rod.
OF THE INVENTION The carabiners used for hitching ropes and similar elements used in certain fields, whether industrial, sports or other, and advantageously and preferably in the mountaineering field for harness hitching, climbing ropes / lowering, etc., are constituted by two parts articulated with each other, one of them constituting an approximately trapecial ring and open in a sector of the same, sector that is closed by means of a rod that articulated at one of the ends of that ring is it projects towards the other by closing the aforementioned sector, this rod being constantly required towards the closing position as a result of which internally it has elastic means duly arranged and designed to perform a tilting thrust of the said rod towards the closing position, being necessary act manually with your finger, pressing on the outer face of the aforementioned rod, to swing it inwards and get the opening through which the rope or element to which the carabiner is intended to be connected can be passed.
Well, in this type of carabiners, the rod and even the end of the ring on which said rod closes, are weakened as a result of the conformation that such elements must have. Thus, the rod, at its free or closing end of the open sector of the carabiner ring, has a wide through opening in which the end of the ring itself is positioned, so that retention and anchoring between both parts is achieved as a consequence of that end of the ring having a notch on its lower or inner edge in which a transverse rod is positioned in the opening formed for this purpose at the end of the rod.
This constitution entails a decrease in the resistance of the carabiner assembly, since on the one hand the opening formed in the rod, in combination with the narrowing that the end of the ring must have to be located precisely in that opening of the rod, and also the recess or recess provided also at that end of the ring, lead to a weakening of the set that in some cases, due to great efforts or betrayal to which the carabiner is subjected, problems can occur.
OF THE INVENTION The closure device object of the invention has structural characteristics such that on the one hand they provide a significant improvement in the effectiveness of the anchoring of the two parts of the carabiner, while increasing its resistance, or which is the same of the closure set. In addition, due to the particular constitution of the closure it is achieved that the fitting of both parts involved in the closure is harmonious and precise. In this sense, the closure of the invention is characterized by the fact that the end of the ring is affected by two lateral recesses, practiced longitudinally, and from which recesses, transversely thereto, respective rounded projections emerge, at a approximately intermediate length of those, while the free end of the rod to be closed on that end of the ring, instead of presenting a through opening as is conventional, has a complementary pocket to the conformation of the end part where you are made recesses and highlights of the ring; that is to say, that end of the rod has a substantially rectangular recess in whose side walls concave recesses are provided complementary to the rounded projections provided on the sides of the end of the ring, thus determining a coupling means between both parts that is effective without losing the carabiner's resistance, since the outer part of the ring completely retains its radius of curvature, also taking advantage of it as a stop for the end of the rod in its push towards the closed position, with the particularity that that outer radius of the ring acts as a protector of the device or closure assembly preventing the entry of particles that could obstruct its proper functioning.
BREVE DESCRIPCIÓN DE LOS DIBUJOSObviously, the closure can be straight or curved and be complemented with the classic lock nut mounted on the intermediate zone of the rod, and which is movable by threaded to one side and the other, so that in one position it allows to actuate on the rod to carry after opening the carabiner, and in another position it blocks the closure itself, the carabiner being prevented from opening if the commented nut is not moved again towards the inoperative situation. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
To complement the description that will then be made and in order to help a better understanding of the features of the invention, a set of drawings is attached to the present specification, based on which innovations and innovations will be more easily understood. Advantages of locking device for carabiner made in accordance with the object of the invention. Figure 1. - Shows a side elevation view of the carabiner made with the closure device of the invention, in an opening position of the rod itself, that is to say it pressed inwards.
Figure 2. - Shows a perspective view of the part that constitutes the closing device itself, in the position of anchoring or coupling the rod and the end of the carabiner ring.
Figure 3.- Shows a sectional view corresponding to the cutting line A-B of Figure 1, in an anchorage situation of the two parts that constitute the locking means of the carabiner.
In view of the aforementioned figures, it can be seen how the carabiner in which the closure of the invention is applicable includes, as is conventional, an elongated ring 1 that can be considered as a trapecial, complementing it with a rod 2 determining the element of closure of the open sector 3 itself, with the ring in effect. The closing rod 2 is at one of its ends articulated, according to reference 4, at the end 5 of the ring 1, while the closure itself is made on the other end, with the particularity that the rod 2 is permanently required towards that closed position by means of an elastic element that incorporates internally, such as It is also conventional.
Well, in view of these conventional features, the closure of the invention is characterized in that the free end of the ring 1 of the carabiner, that is to say the opposite end of the joint 4 of the rod 2, has lateral and longitudinal recesses 7, maintaining the thickness and curvature of the upper part 8 of the end of the aforementioned ring 1, it being further provided that transversely to these longitudinal and lateral recesses 7 are rounded respective machined projections 9, in an approximately intermediate position of the length of the lateral recesses 7 transversely to them.
On the other hand, the free end of the rod 2 has a complementary recess 10 of the end 6 in which the recesses 7 and lateral projections 9 of the ring 1 itself are formed, all in order for that end of the ring to be positioned in the recessed recess 10 of the rod 2 itself, providing for this that the concave recesses 11 complementary to the rounded projections 9 of the end 6 of the ring 1 are also machined on the side walls of the latter.
In this way, a closure of the carabiner is achieved which is effective as regards the anchor between the two parts thereof, that is to say between the end of the rod 2 and the end of the ring 1, at the same time as by virtue of the special configuration of these anchoring parts the carabiner is also with high resistance, all with a harmonious and precise configuration as far as anchoring between these two parts is concerned, since the more widened and upper part 8 originated as a result of the divergence of the lateral recesses 7 of the end 6 of the ring 1, determines a stop and closure in the coupling or fitting on the respective recess 10 of the rod 2, preventing the entry of particles that could obstruct the proper functioning of the carabiner.
Finally, say that the rod 2 can have any suitable configuration and even be provided with the classic locking nut in the closed position, a nut that as is conventional is mounted on an intermediate thread of that rod 2 and is movable, by threading, in one or another direction to allow that in the movement towards one side it carries with it the blocking of the own rod 2 on the end 6 of the ring 1, preventing the opening and therefore constituting a security means in the closing of the carabiner itself.
